The kitties look like s**t, but they're still within a FG. I'd have to say the Van-duhls are simply playing even worse football.

Addendum: Just looked at the stats so far ... and, on the numbers, MSU has outplayed UI by a good margin. 19 first downs to 13, 329 total yards to 299, and almost double the time of possession. One turnover to two for UI. All said, UI is lucky to even be ahead, at this point.

Cats will be encouraged by this start, but they're defending against the worst QB they'll see all year. Get him out of the game.

I'll give credit where credit is due. The Cats D is improved over last year, at least a little. They did give up too many big runs and that RB averaged like 8 ypc. Their offense looks very stagnant outside of Newell. And I would venture to say that the Idaho D is not good at all. Cats should have hung 35 points or more on axD like that and didn't come close. So I'd be worried about the O more than anything. Special teams looked very poor as well. The D is better, but still has axlooooong ways to go.
