Welllllll, it's not like this is the busy season for basketball. His Letter of Appointment expired in June. It's nice to have an office to work out of pending the end of the contract, and "assuming" for some reason ... that it would not be renewed?mtgrizrule said:I am sure he wants and needs to free up his time to explore as many career opportunities as possible. He is at a pitch fork in the road in his career now.
I can't imagine that a coach of that caliber could not expect an automatic renewal if he wanted one, including a substantial salary increase. But, why forego three months salary, and an office, for an early termination? If there was no other job prospect on the table?
Since the results of an early termination due to accepting another job is identical to the results of an early termination with no prospects on the table, what's the point of terminating early without a job prospect?
And then to take "several weeks" to figure it all out? Another few weeks of "figuring it out" and Bone would have been entitled to a full contract pay-out.
Just looks odd, that's all.
I wish he'd stay. I think he was a terrific asset. I can understand that with his record, he feels a need to move on. But, "June" just isn't that far away and as I suggested, when there "isn't a point," there usually is ....
