45 million dollar 35,000 square foot football only facility named after Cal Poly Alum John Madden just opened for the 2026 season.

That looks to be a very nice facility and certainly can’t hurt recruiting efforts. Happy for their athletes and fans. Cal Poly is a good school and it would be nice to see them emerge as a perennial contender for the BSC championship. My fear is that Cal Poly will move up eventually and it will be one more quality program by the wayside.

I always loved Madden. Lived near him in late 70s on Upper West Side of NYC in late 70’s and talked to him a few times. A great CP alum. A great, knowledgeable and funny announcer.
