Ken Bone Steps Down

mtgrizrule said:
I am sure he wants and needs to free up his time to explore as many career opportunities as possible. He is at a pitch fork in the road in his career now.
Welllllll, it's not like this is the busy season for basketball. His Letter of Appointment expired in June. It's nice to have an office to work out of pending the end of the contract, and "assuming" for some reason ... that it would not be renewed?

I can't imagine that a coach of that caliber could not expect an automatic renewal if he wanted one, including a substantial salary increase. But, why forego three months salary, and an office, for an early termination? If there was no other job prospect on the table?

Since the results of an early termination due to accepting another job is identical to the results of an early termination with no prospects on the table, what's the point of terminating early without a job prospect?

And then to take "several weeks" to figure it all out? Another few weeks of "figuring it out" and Bone would have been entitled to a full contract pay-out.

Just looks odd, that's all.

I wish he'd stay. I think he was a terrific asset. I can understand that with his record, he feels a need to move on. But, "June" just isn't that far away and as I suggested, when there "isn't a point," there usually is ....

It does when they are trying to work through contractual obligations
Well, I've dealt with a lot of employment contracts over the past 35 years, including my own University contracts, and there's generally a paragraph that says exactly how to do it. Usually, the only time it gets "complicated" is when it is, for some reason .... complicated. That usually happens when something arises "outside" of the contract to cause the termination and there is a "difference of opinion" about what the final check should look like.

Speculate much, you agenda-driven windbag.

You must post more often, astute.

So, Everett, or astute, what is 75's "agenda" on this? Just curious.

I always chuckle when posters who often don't have a clue about anything dispute posters who do have knowledge. In this case, a lawyer who presumably has done some employment law over the years, and who is specifically familiar with UM's employment contracts, and usually does his homework before he posts, provides some information and asks some questions. Then, some unknown poster steps up to say 75 has an agenda on this and is a windbag. I wonder if this is another poster who's afraid to post under his regular name.

I may have missed this...is playerrep your family name? ;)

In my experience, it's usually the guys that actually do have "agendas" that pop up in conversations. It's a form of shouting down, often simply dumbed-down demonizing because they cannot articulate rational discussions about anything themselves.

I haven't the foggiest notion. And I care even less. I just thought it was a seriously funny-assed post.

Let me explain, as I think this went over your head.

First, I don't think speculate means what you two think it means. You didn't know and still don't know any real facts.

Agenda driven - you have extreme NPD and it's futile to discuss anything with a narcissist. You're solely interested in being right, not finding the right answer. Everything you do becomes hopelessly agenda-driven once you open your mouth. You will not nor cannot be swayed with any amount of logic as your whole being relies on you being viewed as right. That is why you endlessly respond to every reply (sometimes over and over), and are a...

It sounds like you have the agenda here. Bitter and small about some imagined butt hurt. Thanks for explaining it.

With all due apologies to Ken Bone, I like this thread!
Probably better than the thread where you venomously denounced the idea that "The" was part of The University of Montana's original charter, and made the huge issue out of it because, typically, you claim to know so much.

EverettGriz » Tue Jan 05, 2016 12:52 am
But it's not chartered as "THE" University of Montana. That's not the university's name.

Yes, if it leads a sentence, the "The" will be capped. But it's not UM's name, although I regularly call it that.

But frankly, if you need to distinguish yourself by putting a capital "t" in front of your university name, you've probably just got self-worth concerns.
http://www.egriz.com/grizboard/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=72946&p=1128580&hilit=Engstrom+dennison#p1128580
And, I responded with the language of the actual Charter.
Section 1. There is hereby established in this State at the City of Missoula an institution of learning under the name and style of "The University of Montana."
And you've been trolling ever since. Note the arrogance and condescension of your comments. "It's NOT the University's name." OK, you didn't know, you didn't bother to do any research on it, and you had all sorts of cockamamie reasons why "The" would be capitalized otherwise. Bill Clinton could not have done a better job of elevating a single word into a ludicrous dispute, and then be entirely wrong about it. For some reason, you seem to think you "know" these things, and then offer no particular proof of it. Apparently, your strength is in just "making stuff up."

It was yet another of those bizarre exchanges with you and posters like you who get obsessed with details, and then when proven conclusively wrong, sulk about it for months with demeaning posts that satisfy some bizarre ego affliction. I used to enjoy your comments, but you are becoming a troll.

Thanks to the trolls for bring the "football" mentality to the basketball forums, and changing the thread topic to suit their highly personalized and poisonous agendas. You are truly fine people, aren't you?

Okay, now I know you're simply effing with us; you calling someone out for arrogance and condescension!! That's good work; some mighty fine trolling, there. You had us all goin' good for a bit, pretending to be legit!!! Well done, sir!

 :thumb:

Enough of the BS and egos guys. Damn, even the basketball forums are not safe from some egos here. Some here sure know how to ruin what used to be a great fan site.

You post your arrogant "knowledge" of all things UM (remember your claim about the golf course?) and then when someone posts the actual facts, you start trolling them. And of course, when anyone does post actual facts, they're the "arrogant" ones, right? How DARE they challenge you? Isn't that about it? What colossal arrogance anyone must have to challenge YOU?

Doesn't this thread prove the point? You took a conversation about Ken Bone and along with your butt-hurt little buddy decided to change the topic to pursue you own petty little agendas -- in the name of denouncing agendas, no less! You don't even get it, do you? That's trolling. You're it.

OK, you've got an ego. Then don't damage it by continually posting the crap you seem to think you know all about.

I agree. But, as these clowns even admit openly, it's all about "agendas," their's of course taking priority.

You are not helping by calling people clowns etc.

No agenda here, unless you consider someone wanting EGRIZ to be more enjoyable for fans to experience. It is amazing how often it is the same few posters derailing thread after thread, just in an effort to prove a point!!! Put the damn egos aside. Crap like this is exactly why many good posters very seldom or never post these days.

Even sadder, one of worse offenders has not even been around EGRIZ to blame for it.

mtgrizrule said:

No, it doesn't. It states it "like it is," and maybe someday Payton will get right on it and do something about posters, including the "clowns" that insist on derailing threads to satisfy their own petty agendas. "Astutegriz" joined this thread simply to troll. If the mods believed in their own rules, he'd be off.

Everett Friz joins him whole-heartedly; two little kids who have been offended by something said somewhere else about something else. It's like dealing with spoiled brats, not adult posters.

And yes, like you, I am sick of it thread after thread, and there are five names that do it consistently and yes, it is called "trolling." If I comment on something, on any topic, Everett Griz feels compelled to post a snide remark or some "counterfactual" which generally turns out to be factually false -- his enthusiasm to disagree invariably ends up with mud on his face, and renewed anger for the next exchange.

Everett Griz has evolved into a first class troll, and there is no better evidence of it than this thread. He claims he enjoys it. So, there you have it. When posters get to the point that they claim to enjoy petty, vindictive, spiteful, off-topic trolling -- there's your troll.
