I know what you're trying to say... and yes these are college age kids and they will make mistakes. However, I will also state my opinion that the players on the Montana State University Football team are less likely to get in trouble than any other school in the Big Sky, and probably 95% of all other college football teams out there. Rob Ash's philosophy of "High caliber person first, playing ability second", is by far his number one priority and that permeates all throughout the system.
Uh, no...In the end, they are all kids, and kids get in trouble no matter where they go, who recruited them, or whatever. Don't be so naive.

No, you're not getting my point. Rob Ash is one of if the most "Character First" mentality football coaches in the country. He and his recruiting staff do much more due diligence of players before bringing into the program, and have much higher standards than most other schools in terms of player conduct. Additionally, they stress the importance of character in practice, team meetings, in the community, etc. much more than most programs. Yes, kids will still make mistakes... but they'll make them a lot less at MSU than most other schools, due to the focus Ash puts on that.

If what you say was true, the kittens wouldn't have such a shallow O-line ~ look at who has been recruited and signed for the kitty Oline over the last 4 years and where are they now?

Kids with High Calber characteristics would stick around if they had "GOOD" characteristics

Well we've certainly had Kramer's konvicts and now we have Ashes angels? Time will tell but what ever happened to the cat b ball star that was beat senseless outside a bar?

About the same that happened to Grady McCarthy........

He was the guy who got in the fight with Tru and Swink at Sigma Nu

The point is I would be hesitant to bring up "fights". Of course we could compare the response of ashe vs. hauck. but it is a pretty much irrelevant discussion.

Why are you taking shots at Tru?

He was never in any trouble at UM. (according to ODay & Hauck) The only time his name was ever brought up outside of great on the field play was when those racist, looking for trouble Msla police dept thugs singled him out because he was a football player and started trouble with him. Look at the out come of that one,

Tru showed his "Ghandiness" and took 1200v at 19 pulses per second to out those cops that were looking to bag on a black kid.

I usually think better of you.

My point was, if Ashes angels are so pure and clean then why was a b ball player beat senseless by a f ball player and tennis players while St. Ash was coach? It seems certain cat fans havee very short memories.

They all aren't angels, but Ash and the Athletic Department hold them accountable for their actions, and actually discipline their players. For the record, Roger Trammel (football player in the fight) would have been our starting MLB this season had Ash not kicked him off the team.

Actually I have a pretty good memory.

That football player was booted immediately from the Cat football program. Not based on "pending' legal outcome like the ole Griz good ole boys club (Better call Saul). You violate team rules, you are booted or suspended under Ash (not for a quarter either).

What Griz fans can't understand is court issues -vs- team rule issues are TWO separate things! You violate the team conduct rule you are gone (or suspended) at MSU under Ash. MSU sat more players for missing class last (full game suspension) year than the don't taze me bro's player got for the scuffle with the cops (regardless if the cops initiated some of it - you don't touch a cop period)!

But we all know it is the Missoula Police and Missoulian that are out to get everyone.

I don't think you want to go there........ Or someone might ask how the coaches reacted in both fights.

Gwen you act like you don't realize that 98% of college coaches at best are sleazy used car salesmen. How do coaches at SEC schools react to fights, with a 7 figure salary on the line?

Horse Poo! Just recently it was annouced that Barnett was transferring to MSU, after an issue with public intoxication and online social networking pictures of him going to make it rain at the strip club. I hope his halo can stay on. And while they never didn't play the Kali brothers were most certainly well vetted before both of them were offered scholarship. But then again I'm sure the rest of Ash's Angels would have been able to help them stay out of trouble if only they would have had the time.

This post will come back to haunt you. I know Ash has made a lot of positive changes and I will hand it to him in that he tends to deal with things when they go wrong quickly, but to suggest that MSU has higher standards or does more to check out their football player is a big pile of steaming horse poo! Also, sometimes you check a kid out who has no history of trouble and they find it once the apron strings are no longer attached.

I don't want any student, student/athlete to get into trouble, but if I made a statement like this I would keep my crow lubricate close by, I'm betting your going to need it. Every recruiter out there wants the best talent with the least amount of issues and just as Ash has shown he will deal with player issues quickly he has also shown he will look past some past behavior. Not saying the Cats are any worse then any of the other teams, but they just aren't any better.

Haucks reaction was the first VERY public chink in the programs armor and probably delayed that 7 figure salary a year referring to his "pouting" a national level.

But the kids aren't any better. I just wouldn't go there. I dare say UM's kids are as good or better than most schools at this level. Our problem has never been the kids.

"Not saying the Cats are any worse then any of the other teams, but they just aren't any better." Exactly! Minter skated off punishment over the fight. Even though it was minor involvement he contributed to the circumstances of that beating. Shouldn't Zach be shown the door as well?

You mean the fact that his roommate took Minter's ID so he could get in the bar... that involvement? If Minter beat anyone (which he didn't) it should have been his roommate.

Blgs Griz Fan said:
Correct me if I'm wrong but the story was Minter gave his roomie the id. If so, he contributed to the beating in an indirect way.

True he gave Wilson his ID but Wilson was not involved in the fight between Blount and Trammell.

Minter was punished for what he did. He wasn't kicked off the team because he didn't rape anyone.
