1 & 2) The pluses on our (Griz fans) side: She's a "homebody", so to speak. And her parents played here.
3) And one thing that will probably determine her decision: How well the mens team does/fathers employment.
If that's what she's basing her decision on, I'm not holding out much hope that she'll be a Lady Griz. Would the Griz admin re-sign Wayne just to get her to sign with the Lady Griz?
YES, not often an all american is in our backyard. Besides Tinkle runs a clean program, recruits well, is learning on the job. I feel the GRIZ will have very good year this year, and Tinkle deserves the opportunity to coach a team with the majority being his own recruits. Hasquet was not his recruit but is tight with Tinkle. As for the other SR, Sharp, he also gets along well and respects Tinkle. If the GRIZ finish in the Top 3 and/or win the BSC tourney, he gets a 3 year extension. If neither happens, then a 1 year extension. The only way he gets let go is if this team is well below .500 in the conference.
I was thinking about whether O'Day would resign Tinkle just to be able to sign JT. I kind of put myself in his shoes, and thought, would I resign WT, just so we can get JT? then I realize, O'Day is responsible for the whole athletic department's welfare. Not just one program. Cannot jeapardize one program to benefit another unless both can benefit at the same time.
So, O'Day will not be resign Wayne just to get JT. O'Day will resign Wayne based on results like any other coach. Let's hope that the Griz basketball team plays well enough to support resigning Wayne, and well enough to make it a three year contract.
If Griz BB team shows improvement from the past two years, Wayne's contract should be extended.
