JJ Charged With Rape

getgrizzy, so with what you know right now, could you possibly find JJ guilty? My point is that as of right now, their are things that have to put doubt into a person's mind as to whether this story is true or not. These maybe addressed as the case proceeds, and will have to to prove guilt.

nope, of course not. no one could. someone would have to sit on the jury and hear all the evidence first to make that claim. nothing we've read or heard to date should cause any of us to think we know for sure one way or the other. and i'll add if that's the way it stands after trial, which in all likelihoo it will, then he has to be found not guilty. fair enough?

People on here pontificating about the evils of UM Football are manipulating things to accomplish their own Florio agenda against UM football. Both the rape cases that have been brought against UM players could easily have been anyone elses children with drinking and hormones involved. This is not a justification but reality. In fact the entire male population of UM is as likely to commit a rape in these circumstances as any football player. So the issue is not UM Football but the real focus should be on young men in general.

I doubt Florio will and you ARE right, the U of M is ahead of the curve NOW on sexual harrasement what got us there, and what lead to it however may NOT be typical. This isn't ALL about rapes (suspected or otherwise) When the DOJ reports on the handling of the 500+ reports over the last few years, then we'll know where we really stand.

That's a fair point. But you have to wonder how much intimate knowledge of the case everyone would have if the accused were a nobody. If they did, I think most people would reach the same conclusion. Or at the very least, aren't persuaded to declare someone guilty just yet.

TNT, you clearly are a very intelligent person. But with all due respect, you lack credibility. You keep referencing this vague notion of a system of entitlement for Griz athletes. But many of us are confused as to what the objective evidence is which you are using to support that contention. I'm not certain I've been provided with any evidence which suggests to me that UM's program has allowed its athletes to run amok, much like the pirate chasing the wench around the table in Disneyland's Pirates of the Carribean. What makes you so sure such an enviornment exists?

Provide some specifics and you're likely to be taken a little more seriously.

it is good to be skeptical - of both sides. women make false reports, and in the missoula 'justice' system there is without a doubt a strong bias to simply believe a woman's story (karen orzech comes to mind). but then again, some guys are just shitty people who would screw an uncooperative (and unaroused) partner.

It is incredibly unethical for the defense attorney to report anything about her mental status in a public court document. PUBLIC. So, even if she is the strongest, most stable person in the world, you are willing to jump all over her reputation on the summary of an attorney whose job it is to discredit her. When the defense did that, and published her alleged mental condition and her place of employment, they might as well have pinned an "A" to her head. The defense did it to humiliate her and to get her to back off. Whether he's guilty or not, that tactic will make other women think twice before coming forward.

But either way, I still maintain, none of us know anything about this case. Nothing. You have a charging affidavit. You have a motion to dismiss. That's it. You haven't heard the witnesses, you haven't heard him say anything, and you haven't heard from him. There isn't a chance in hell this case will be dismissed. So flail on in a public forum. All you do is make it so the trial will be moved out of county. And, again, you forget that woman is someone's daughter. And he is someone's son. Shut up and let the system work.
