It happenin

If they didn't have a contingency plan for this, then they are incompetent. Who thought things would stay this way for any actual amount of time?

Maybe I'm wrong, but I highly doubt what people have been hearing in the news is what's also been going on behind the scenes. These moves did not come out of nowhere on a whim.
I wouldn't be surprised if the MWC was in fact somewhat blindsided. Both the Big XII and the PAC 12 were blindsided by the loss of UT/ OU/ USC/ UCLA.

I think that's different, though. That was the catalyst to everything going tits up. Conversely for the MWC, they had to know a 2-team Pac-2 was not going to be a viable long-term solution, and that OSU and WSU wanted to bring members in (they said as much!).

I can only hope UM is making contact with MWC to at least to express interest.
The MWC looks to get a good chunk of cash from the PAC that I believe some could be used to pay the $5 million to move FCS to FBS. They also might be able to tap into funds to help offset scholarships etc during a transition period. That might mean UM or any FCS team that possibly joins makes less in broadcast revenue. But I have a feeling anything UM could get would be better that what it gets currently.
I just think if we let this slip away and don’t even express interest it could be the last time we have this type of opportunity to be in a west coast FBS conference.

I'm just going to throw this out there. When it was leaked in 2017 that Hauck was going to be hired as the next Montana head football coach, I remember Kent Haslam came out in an interview saying that he had not talked to Bobby nor had extended a job offer to anyone. A few days later, the official announcement was made. It's pretty obvious that Kent and Bobby had been talking and they were likely just wrapping up final procedures before announcing.

Just because Shaun Rainey interviewed Kent and Kent said that he hasn't received an invitation, or that things are "uncertain" doesn't mean it's the end of the world. For all we know, Kent very well could be talking behind the scene with the MW and keeping it hush like he did with Bobby's hiring. If anything is happening, it wouldn't surprise me that Kent is keeping everything very close to the chest.

For starters, these moves to the PAC12 literally happened this morning. So maybe the Mountain west hasn't exactly picked up the phone in the first few hours and rather are meeting with their presidents and officials in the conference office to determine what the next steps are.

Secondly, just because Haslam said no conversations have taken place, doesn't mean he's telling the truth. This conference re-alignment stuff has been held very close to the vest with any school that's been involved so far. They haven't exactly been running out to the media disclosing that they're changing conferences. Also Haslam said no invitation has been offered. Well no shit. The MWC is not in a position to be extending offers a mere 5 hours later after they got raided by the PAC12. Things move fast, but not that fast.

How about we just wait and see how things unfold in the coming days and weeks? Odds are conversations will start taking place in the very near future.
I hadn't read your post yet and had written pretty much the same thing 😂

I do wanna say one thing though. It is a damn shame that this is happening in the middle of Football season. I think this team deserves our undivided attention as they have the potential to do some special things and I would hate for this teams potential accomplishments to become over shadowed by all the conference realignment news.

Nothing about the Griz football season will be overshadowed by conference realignment news.

Really? Everyone knew that WSU/OSU would do everything possible to revive the PAC#.
Sure. And the MWC increased the fees associated with teams leaving.

Maybe they had an inkling. Maybe they really thought nothing would come of it since joining WSU and OSU is really nothing more then remaking the MWC under a different name. People are overconfident or clueless at all levels of administration.

I would argue that by increasing the fees, they had more than an inkling.

Ah shit, fam! :ROFLMAO::LOL::ROFLMAO:
Smh whenever I hear somebody say they would rather play a Dakota school every single year in the same suburb in Texas (like a Stephen King book) rather than play a bigger, new school in a new city each year.
Do these people go on the same vacation to the same place and do the same thing every year? Seriously, sounds like being trapped in an endless nightmare.
