Is it surprising to you that UM can’t beat top 5 teams on road without it’s starting qb?

I think it is Bobby, Bobby believes that with a good defense and special teams, just as long as the backup doesn't make mistakes and turn the ball over, he can win games. I am not sure the last two weeks have changed his mind, because they had chances to beat top 5 teams on the road, even with the worst offense in the BSC. For things to be different, Bobby has to shift his philosophy.
This post provides an excellent description of playing to not lose.

This team is EXACTLY where Stitt would have had it. 5-3, but under .500 in conference. Beating up on cupcakes….losing against any team with a pulse. Racking up massive yards against cupcakes…unable to generate even a semblance of an offense against any defense remotely above average.

No, it isn't. UM will not be ranked out of the top 30 this week, or at the end of the season. Stitt lost to some cupcakes. Still never had to play 2 top 5 teams in the conference. Stitt was never hired as a coach, as opposed to analyst, after he left UM. You people with narratives drive me nuts. You're like politicians. Try being objective. And positive occasionally.

"Try being objective"??? You should try it. I will answer to your initial question and the rest.
1) Wouldnt your initial question apply to Stitt's last year? They had four losses....A playoff UW team, Weber away with back up Freshman QB, Home against EW with Backup Freshman QB and away at the cats with back up Freshman QB. Thank god this team didnt have a FBS playoff team on the schedule this year or its a likely 5 loss season.
2) Rankings- Bobby still gets the blessing of being over ranked because of his name in relation to his 1st stint here when he inherited a top tier program and kept it going.

Lastly Stitt never had the benefit of coaching his first recruiting class as seniors. Bobby's 1st recruiting class are seniors +. Can you be objective?

I am not, and have never been a huge fan of Bobby, but I have full belief that Stitt would never have more success at Montana than he did in those 3 seasons. There is zero evidence to the contrary.

Yes, every run play to the right that didn’t work should have been a run to the left or a pass.

Every run play that involved Kris Brown running the ball is straight up negligence how many times did KB run the ball last week? 6-7 times? Those are wasted plays. If I have a QB that cannot run I’m not calling read options and giving him the possibility. It’s not chess out here

If we have a QB like KB that struggles with making decisions. Why are we calling long developing plays? He’s a one read and ball out guy. Every play where he had to make multiple reads he puts his head down and gets sacked. It’s simple shit like that that Rosey SHOULD know with his experience.

Rosey has cost us two games that should have been won now. That’s the bottom line.

Not having our starting qb cost us the last 2 games.

You or anybody else has no idea where a Stitt coach team would be at this point AND your initial question only seeks the answers you want to hear and completely misses the issue we are having when our first string QB goes down

Yes, I have a very good idea of where a Stitt would be. Just because you don't know, don't assume that some of the rest of us don't know.

Yeah, okay, Jack…

Not having a coaching staff able to adapt to losing our starting QB, lack of flexibility to design a system that works for the backup, and not having a serviceable backup in the program cost us the last two games.

You are right. That, of course, will do it in games against highly ranked opponents. Not unique to 2022 Griz football. In 1994, junior QB Dave Dickenson was not available for the semi game at Youngstown St. I was at the game. The backup QB was so bad that it was a performance at the level of the Edwards 2002 Brawl game. 1994 was our all-time # 1 OL, he had all day in the pocket and could not hit receivers. So an inferior YSU team breezed to a 28-9 win and then took the NC. A far different outcome with a healthy Dickenson.

But it remains that today's offense has fundamental limitations that the 1994 offense did not have.

So our record is actually: 5 wins 0 losses 1 fluke and 2 did not have our starting QB - Why are we dropping in polls.
