Good for him, midlife crisis or not. He's an advocate for FCS football not being dumbed down, and that's a good thing.

That's just retarded....FCS does the same thing....we get FBS schools drop downs that they train and educate...than the kid betters his life by coming to FCS...same deal! Didn't Ash have like 10 FBS drop downs this year sign with MSU??? Guys a moron and a hypocrite....I cant believe how hes handling this shit. If I were a booster I would tell this guy to stfu cuz hes making MSU look like morons right now!
I agree with Badlands 100% Up to this point 11 transfers this year to one team at FCS level and Ash complains about 1 of a very few that move up to FBS. Unbelievable. Maybe he's still spinning from his November crash.

Seriously. They need to get his meds straightened up over there. He's embarrassing that entire program by flying off about shit that doesn't concern his team. I have had relatives struggle with dementia, and I am completely serious when I say that people need to get him help if he needs it.

Ash may seriously be struggling with the onset of dementia.

Ash and the Bobcats decided to pay off NDSU $200,000 instead of getting their butts
Kicked a couple Of years ago. If he wants kids to stick to a school, than at least he should stick to their own schedule.

Selective Commitment Disorder!

Considering what he has to work with at state college, Ash has done a good job. He should probably retire as he is showing signs of a total melt down.

Ash is being heralded as an Ambassador for the FCS over on Wombat nation....I wish I wasn't banned from the site because it would be soooo fun to make fun of them for this.

It's pretty amazing how the vast majority of cat fans over on bbn actually agree with Ash... then there's the one voice of reason, kmax, who actually gets it.

Their heads are so far up Ron Ashs ass that most of them think his last names Fire!

He makes it sound as though it's an epidemic, but this is the only case I've ever heard of. Lots of graduate transfers moving from one FBS school to another, but don't recall an FCS to FBS jump.

Correct, this is not a very common occurrence right now - but that is the concern of Ash, Baldwin, and any other FCS coach that's been around and understands what's going on - that it may become more common. This situation is not what the rule was designed for, and unless it's changed it could become commonplace for NFL caliber players to start jumping ship their Senior seasons in order to potentially strengthen their draft stock. Again, this would be a really bad thing for the FCS, a division that already basically viewed as DII by the "Big Time" football world. I hate the NCAA.

P.S. I should know better than to actually try to have actual FCS football discussions on here anymore  . On the average day when you look at the top twenty threads on here, well over half of them are titled something about the BOBCATS, Ash, VA, EWU, etc... and they everything quickly morphs into a "funny off" between 8 to 10 posters. Still entertaining tho...

What was the rule designed for? Just curious.

I think the issue seems to be bigger for FBS schools, i.e. great players and lesser teams that would like to move to a bigger/better FBS program for their final year. Nevertheless, I can't imagine that there are lots of great or very good FCS, or even FBS, players who are good enough to take the risk of moving to a better school to play their last year; willing to leave their school, teammates, friends, girlfriends, for their last year in college; and will be graduating in 4 years. Also, I'm not sure an Adams or very good FCS player would want to move to a lesser FBS program for his last year (like UM to Utah St or something like that).

Sure, Russell Wilson. There was a good ACC d-lineman (conference sack leader, I think) who did this to drop down to FCS for his 4th year, but that's not Ash's concern. Trumaine Johnson would have been a candidate, but don't think he wasn't graduating in 4 years. I think Adams is fairly unique. Great player, and happens to have a wide open opportunity at a great program. Usually, top programs have alot of depth, so the positions are not wide open. While Adams has an almost unique opportunity, and I think he's made the right decision, it's not without risks at EWU. I assume not, or he certainly won't be getting reps.
