The thing is Brown was producing nearly nothing in the passing game, and nothing in the running game. At minimum, Britt would have given them the ability to run more/better. If the backup can only give you 110 yards of offense, you HAVE to look at other options. And clearly, they did. For as “safe” as Brown is, he got replaced because he wasn’t producing. No production isn’t very safe either.

I love D Britt. I watched him play in Vegas when he was at Liberty and was at the state championship when they beat Bishop-Gorman.
The kid is phenomenal and fits that offense perfectly. I was SO happy to see him get the start ahead of Brown after LJ went out.
My here was absolutely ZERO doubt in my mind he would perform the way he did and I am confident he should be QB of the future for the the team. I been saying it all along.

Thursday at work, a couple in their 70s came in. They were both in Griz gear. I mentioned the Brawl of the Wild. I commented, a healthy Lucas Johnson would be nice. They agreed.
In unison, they said they're not worried, if Britt has to be the main man. I told told them, I too am impressed with him, just prefer LJ.
The husband retorted, "No worries, I've coached and scouted, for close to 50 years. I tell you, that Britt not only is talented, but has the "it" gene. He's going to be an all time great. He's ready to lead now! Bank on it."
He added, Mellott is a champion, but can't win big if forced to throw often. However, Britt can win throwing or running.
The old man was so confident and honestly sounded like, he knows football well. When they were leaving, he said. "Trust me on Britt. We will all see."
Quite the endorsement, in my opinion.
