Mont. East-West Shrine Game: '26 Class Has Some Juice. !!!

While I couldn't watch the entire Montana East-West Shrine Game--I was at work, I came away impressed by our '26 recruits, Coach and Recruiting Coordinator Justin Green's last class. Some observations:

DE Evan Pyron, 6-4, 240, Missoula Hellgate: I saw Evan's sack of East QB Howie Martin from Central here in Billings, and I was impressed by his size, strength and speed in bursting through the East O Line and running down Martin. The Scripps MTN Crew said thst Evan was probably the best player on the field, and from what I saw, the 3-star Hellgate recruit didn't disappoint : ) !!!

S Kougar Kappel, 6-0, 170, Red Lodge: I saw Kougar lay the wood on a couple of West offensive skill guys, and the force of those hits reminded me a little of Tim Hauck, Colt Anderson, and Shann Schillinger. I think Kougar could make his presence start being felt on ST in '27 after he hits the weights, and bulks up to 190 or so in '26 and maybe also play some safety.

WR Wes Ehret, 6-2, 190, Belgrade
WR William Snell, 6-4, 290, Billings Central : I put these two together because I forsee them playing on opposite sides and possibly as early as '26 or for sure, '27, possibly on ST as returners. While I saw Ehret drop a ball he should have caught, I also saw him have a couple of decent kickoff returns, and William Snell wasn't afraid to go up and catch the ball in traffic. I think with their length and speed, if we can keep Wes and William at UM for four or five years, Ah-Yat and Flowers are going to have two tall and fast targets in Ehret and Snell : ) !!!

TE: Merek Fisher, 6-6, 220, Billings Skyview: I was busy working, but I thought I heard the MTN crew call out Merek's name for a catch. And since I eat dinner at Jake's Downtown normally when I am not working, and my favorite bus boy is Merek's Skyview teammate, he tells me that Merek has pretty soft hands and was a sprinter in track until he switched to field events, and for a big guy, moves really well. After Merek redshirts, hits the weights and bulks up to 240-250 pounds, who doesn't want a 6-6 TE with soft hands that can move ?

OL: Lincoln Senter, 6-5, 240, CMR
S: Dawson Hammond, 6-0, 175 Malta:

I didn't see Lincoln or Dawson play, though I am assuming that Lincoln was battling
away for the East in the trenches and I hope Dawson also saw the field.

I was impressed by Evan and Kougar on defense--imagine Kougar lighting up an MSU RB or WR in The Litter Box given his name, and Wes and William's size and speed would give FBS teams match-up problems, and those matchups will only be magnified for FCS and Big Sky Teams !!! I think Justin left 🤔 Coach K and staff a lot of arrows from his last class for Coach K's quiver. !!!

And finally as always, the main winners of The East-West Montana Shrine game are the numerous Montana kids that will receive world-class orthopedics care at Shriner's Spokane and world-class burns 🔥 care at Shriner's Galveston and this world 🌎 class medical care will cost their families $ nothing : ) !!!

I was really hoping Ehret would shine but he did not. He dropped more than one ball and one was a ball that hit him in stride in the hands that likely would have been a TD. However, West did a really nice job on D so I am sure that was some of it.
