I Like QB Britt

Britt can win u games, u can see it. I realize playing in a game where u r up by 50 is much easier, however he looks so poised back there, and his talent looks tremendous.

He's going to make mistakes, I get that, but his ceiling is so much higher than Brown's. Limited sample size of course, but I think he's got tremendous potential.

Channeling super Dave. Only diff is that Britt is a quicker runner. A whole new dimension

Yep... I was going to start a new topic about the reincarnation of the QB position with a 5'11 dynamic playmaker. I think he will still be a Freshman next year since he didn't play in 4 games.

That’s a redshirt rule, and he has already redshirted so next year he will be a redshirt sophomore.

Well, he can only Redshirt once, but the 4 game rule still applies. He could return as a Redshirt Freshman according to everything I'm reading. The article says "as long as they don’t compete in five games."

It's confusing though, as it doesn't say "Sophomore" anywhere.

No, the 4 game rule only applies to players wanting to redshirt.

He already did, so even if he doesn't play at all, his clock still moves him to Sophomore next season.

I can see his point though..

Must have his cap off.

Yes, that forward thinking segregationist..The song is a nice history piece though.

Nothing you saw today would suggest there is anything not to like. Makes you wonder why it took this staff so long recognize his abilities and get him in the game. I do have a theory…

I suppose it's time to hop on thr Britt wagon, I'm all for him being #2. I was really rooting for Brown but, he seemed to have gotten worse as time went on.

No one wasn't rooting for Brown, I've been trying to convince myself he has potential since Suck State last homecoming. It's been downhill since the red zone pick back then. We may not have enough of a sample size to be sure Britt can move the O, but we surely have enough reps to know Brown really can't. Pretty simple at this point.

Perhaps it was him getting a lot more reps in practice after Johnson got hurt at SS. I'm sure Britt has gotten way more practice reps in the past few weeks than he had had from the start of the season until after the SS game. From a coach point of view, he is far more prepared now than he was when Johnson went down in the SS game.

He was also inserted today in an easy game that was already out of reach for EWU. No pressure on him. A good time to experience or make qb decisions, as opposed to games on the road against two top 5 teams.

He looked good, but far from perfect. I see that his qb efficiency rating was 135.71%, as opposed to Johnson's 208.75%. He was 8-11 for 67 yards, with a nice TD and a pick. Ran very well.

It looks like he may be the no. 2 now. At least, he's gotten some more game experience. And got to run with the no. 1's.

.....supposedly he went off script and throw the ball when he was suppose to hand it off...dog house...
that's the problem with this old school coaching staff...a kid like this you have to let him go in a sense..
not my way or the highway mentality.....you have to let him make mistakes along the way without
stifling the talent...so much upside to a young kid like this... you can easily over coach it and lose it!...
or coach it along the way....

We run a heavy RPO offense. The QB almost always has the choice to throw it.

It has a lot more to do with what hoops is saying. He didn't get enough reps for them to feel confident putting him in the game, and now that he has, he's shown that he might be the better #2 guy.

+1 Brown has looked like a deer in the headlights since day one. Britt seems kinda fearless -- so he makes a mistake or two. He's got guts, and I fear Brown doesn't.

How does a player win scout team POY and the coaches have zero idea “what they had”? I mean they recruited the kid for a reason, didn’t they?

Yeah, you saw that on his INT. He had White wide open in the flat and all the room you could want if he wanted to run, but took the gunslinger option to get it to the guy in the end zone.

If you watched Bobby coaching him after he came off the field, you could see it. Throwing a pick isn't the end of the world, but doing it like that is not acceptable.

That said, even with that, I loved what I saw from him.

Scout team runs the opponent's offense, not the UM offense, and there are a lot of guys that play in games much different (see: better) than they do in practice.

Once the season starts, if he isn't getting reps with the top 2 offenses, he isn't running the Griz offense in practice. This isn't to say they were right in not putting him #2, it's clear he's a better option now, but if you're wondering how it got that way, there's your answer.

Who said the coaches had no idea what they had? I didn't see that. A kid may be a great recruit, but until he learns and masters the offense and gets experience in practice and game, he's probably not ready. I don't think scout team player of the years is hardly the definitive word on the quality of a player.
