LadyGriz Holsinger on Leave

Lady Griz over 4 seasons from 2016 - 2020 when Schweyen was HC:

7-23 / 0-2 against MSU / 0-1 conf tourney
14-17 / 1-1 against MST / 1-1 conf tourney
14-16 / 0-2 against MSU / 0-1 conf tourney
17-13 / 0-2 against MSU / 0-1 conf tourney

That sums up to a record of 52-69 (43% win) / 1-7 against MSU / 1-4 in conf tourney

Then 2021 - 2024 complete seasons with Holsinger:

19-11 / 1-1 against MSU / 0-1 conf tourney
14-16 / 0-2 against MSU / 0-1 conf tourney
23-10 / 1-1 against MSU / 1-1 conf tourney

That puts his 3 full seasons at 56-37 (60% win) / 2-4 against MSU / 1-3 in conf tourney
Thanks, already knew the records for both Shannon and Holsinger but maybe someone didn't.

Sorry, goatcreek, I did read the 9th Circuit did agree to hear the case in a Montana media story but let's just assume you're right--still doesn't explain away Sophie, Jamie, Mike, Robin, etc. backing up Shannon.

In my post of a few minutes ago, I explained BK was Big Kent--sorry you missed that.
Well, in a sense, I suppose, the Ninth Circuit agreed to hear it because it has no power to refuse to hear it. And, regardless of who was “backing up” SS, whatever they said was insufficient as a matter of law— that’s why her lawsuit was dismissed. SS appealed the dismissal, but she still lost.

UM made a business decision to buy peace, eliminate risk, and move on. The most obvious truth, as has been demonstrated many times, is that great players usually don’t make good coaches. Yogi Berra is the exception, of course.

Plenty of receptions to that, goatcreek--Deon Sanders, Eddie George are two that come to mind. But I do agree plenty of so-so players make great coaches and managers, and the late, great and Bobby didn't play college ball at all.

Just for you, Brint Wahlbetg:

Coach Mike Krezyzewski , "Coach K"

Duke:

1981: 17-13
1982: 11-17
1983: 10-17

And Mike's years @ Army ( West Point ), his alma mater and coaching job before Duke:
1976: 11-14
1977: 20-8
1978: 19-9
1979: 14-11
1980: 9-17

Saw an interview on ESPN Special with Coach K, snd he said a lot of Duke alum, fans, donors weren't real wild about hiring him in the first place after his last year @ Army and wanted him canned after 1982 and '83, but his AD cut him a little slack and 1200 wins and 5 NC's later plus 6 or 7 Olympic gold medals, Coach K did okay.

I am not saying Shannon would have become a Coach K, but I think the LG would be doing pretty well right now, + .500, if she were LG HC. But we will now never know now ... or will we ?

With all due respect billingsgriz your brand indicates a hometown bias for Shannon which is admirable at least. Only observing from what I’ve heard from numerous individuals connected to the basketball program Shannon’s reputation was less than stellar amongst her staff and team.
I, as much as anyone, wanted her to succeed but her performance as a coach was not nearly as impressive as her playing. Sorry to say. Time to move on.

While I don't agree with you, Sport, you're a great GRIZ fan and your civil and you're probably right about it being time to move on--probably ...

Totally fair point - we will never know for sure!

Wasn’t meaning to pile on to Shannon just wanted to put their full seasons side by side.

Dont forget that 4 of those 7 wins that first year were against MT NAIA schools.
Also that last couple of years the Lady Griz have been playing some really good teams

Especially like games against Gonzaga, Washington & Washington St., Minnesota, Tulsa and Michigan State; though was hoping for better results. More the merrier with teams in those same conferences. Be positive towards recruiting, I would think.

How about we just get the best coach possible for the job and not worry about if it's a man or a woman? I'm lukewarm on Harris right now. I wanna see how they finish the season. I have a feeling there will be no lack of suitors and high quality candidates just like last time. Let's just hope that the top candidate doesn't turn down the job like last time though. He would've been great.

I think we should just get it over with and hire a Martian. How long does it take to travel from Mars to Earth?

The overall reversal rate in the US Circuit courts, overturning a District Court decision or ruling in civil cases, fluctuates between 7% and 20% nation wide. Shannon had a statistically thin chance of getting relief from that court, particularly when the last time I heard him speak, Sid Thomas complimented the Montana Bar and federal judges for Montana having the highest affirmation rate in the 9th Circuit. The decision to settle was not made on a fear of reversal but putting the matter behind the University.
