LadyGriz Holsinger on Leave

Wish things would have worked out better for Holsinger and Montana. He brought in some solid talent, and there were times his teams looked really good, but it was very up and down. If what happened is true, it’s been a very disappointing end.

Hope the next hire works out much better. I’ll certainly continue to be a Lady Griz fan!

My guess is that he knew that he wouldn't be reinstated or renewed, he was in the 4th year of his 4-year contract, and that's why he put his house up for sale and now has resigned. He probably has to resign to look for other jobs, even lower level assistant jobs. It looks like UM wasn't going to terminate him. They didn't have to, because his contact was expiring. By not terminating him, UM didn't get into any fight, dispute or litigation. UM just had to pay him for some, most or all of the remaining last year of his contract. Looks like they won't have to pay him anymore now from the date of resignation. UM handled this one better than the Shannon situation. It looks like Harris is doing a much better job anyway and/or the team is much happier and more willing to play hard. I've seen and heard some of the "facts", but I'm curious to know what the facts actually were.

I read a tweet that he was extended last summer so the contract that was set to run out this summer actually wouldn't now. I'll try to find it.
 
I hope we find out exactly what happened, but the reason(s) for him resigning may not be released as part of an agreement between UM and Holsinger, fear of litigation, or both. I still hope we learn what happened--transparency is good and necessary and if this involves specific LG players (s) and/or coach(es) and it probably does, their name(s) could and should be redacted if so desired.

I assume that would open um up to a lawsuit. The outcome that happened is designed to save BH face and the university money. The rumors are probably most likely what happened and that's the best we're going to get. Maybe more comes out at the end of the season as players talk a little but it's still going to be rumor and not definitive.

You could be unfortunately right, but if I am Bill Speltz, Shaun Rainey or another Montana reporter, I am asking my editor and/or publisher to file FOIA requests or other maneuvers to learn what happened. I think that probably happens--we'll see. In Speltz's recent column, he obviously didn't like all of the secrecy surrounding Holsinger.
 
Agree Mariner, Holsinger using CYA to try to get another assistant's gig, and Haslam using CYA for hiring him in the first place.

If he really cares about UM then he lets it lie.

Why? The precedent was set in the msDui cases: "reporters" don't ask difficult questions or try to investigate. I suppose Colter might ask if UM does anything different to defend a left-handed dribbler, but I wouldn't expect much more hard-hitting questions than that.
