LadyGriz Holsinger on Leave

Missoulian writer Bill Speltz listed her as a possible candidate but not sure if Haslam did.
Also, do not know if Payne was ever interested in it then and of course wouldn't know if she would be interested in it now. But, I do think she would be a good coach here and would take a shorter time getting Lady Griz to or near the top of the conference in less time it took her to get NAU to or near the top of the conference.

We can continue to beat this topic into the ground if we want. Just not sure that we need to re-legislate something that is clearly in the rear view mirror. SS was dismissed five years ago. We are going to be two coaches removed from her, and while it is fair to question Haslam's decision making, SS is not going to come back through that door whether you want her to or not.

There are a number of coaches that might be considered...:
1. Nate Harris the current interim HC.
2. Katie Faulkner former LG player and head coach at Pepperdine
3. Jordan McIntyre: University of Utah assistant coach and former LG assistant and player.
4. Jocelyn Tinkle. Former LG assistant and current assistant to Katie Faulkner.
5. Kellie Lewis: San Diego State Assistant and former BSU player and Washington coach under June Daugherty.
6. Mandi Carver. Dillon native, Idaho State Star, College Assistant w/ Fresno State
As an active member of Hoop Club, I have had the opportunity to be around Nate Harris and the Team on many occasions, at meetings and a few practices. I like how Nate relates to the Team, and Team members seem to really like him. I like his emphasis on the Team having fun and taking shots when they have them. Since he began as interim head coach, Dani is suddenly playing like the old Dani of the past,Tyler, Izzy and Aby have really started to play very well. Nate is a great recruiter; he has recruited our current mid-west players and recruited the mid-west players committed for next year (one of whom is a tremendous 3-point shooter). I'm hoping and advocating for him to be named Head Coach. We might lose some current players and incoming recruits if not.

Without knowing anything that would be a homerun hire by you guys. She's the best up and coming coach in the league. She knows Montana. She knows the history of UM womens hoops. And the proximity to Washington certainly would help recruiting.

I hope you don't land her for all the reasons given. ;)

I thought (though maybe it was just rumored on here) that Payne was interested the last time around when they hired Holsinger. I wouldn't be surprised either way I guess.

I guess does anyone think UM would stand a shot at getting the track or cross country coach from NAU? Just because it's um doesn't mean it's somewhere to up and leave for. Sure she's from MT. And someone mentioned if she goes to the NCAA tournament she has nothing left to play for. Then why not go to a bigger school? Someone is going to come calling.

I'm luke warm on Harris becoming head coach right now. I agree that he's a very good recruiter and so far has done a good job of steadying the ship and stringing together some wins. That said, the teams they've beat so far are very bad and I wanna see how the rest of the season goes. If they beat NAU on Saturday and they go to Bozeman and put up a fight, then I'll be a believer. Right now, I'm not sold that he's a D1 head coach. Absolutely he's a D1 caliber assistant, but I need to see more from him before I'm sold on him as head coach.

NAU XC and T&F are in a completely different hemisphere from NAU Women's BBall. Don't try and make NAU Women's BBall seem like a destination that NAU XC is.

Here hoping that coach Harris and the Lady Griz roll thru the remainder of the season right into the tournament doing very well. Harris and the current coaching staff is hired. Skipping all the BS that goes into hiring new coaches, then new players then new problems.
Can you imagine if Harris won two post season games in his first shot as HC?

Jocelyn would be an interesting hire. Does she have the chops yet to be a hc? She will at some point.
