Who is coaching Helena High?

Big Sky beat the preseason #3 from the east Bozeman, Hellgate beat the preseason #2 from the east Great Falls High and Sentinel beat a very good team in class A Corvallis.
The real test should be coming next weekend when all three teams travel to Billings for two games each.
It looks like Hellgate might be better than previously thought, they dont have much size but it looks like Sampson has them playing a stile that fits.
The Bozeman win was a big one for Big Sky. They proved to themselves and everyone else they are contenders.
The win over Corvallis was a good start for Sentinel as well. Corvallis has the ability to compete with almost all of the teams in AA so its a good win for the Spartans.

As in going to be a Griz!!!!

Swilly, put away the pipe and come to grips with the fact that this kid has ALREADY wiped the Big Sky blips off his radar; neither he nor his family have any ties/affiliations with UM which would be the only sliver of a chance you'd have of landing him.
loyal, what did you think of Geoff Hogan?
El_Gato said:Well, the 13 points Helena had through 3 quarters may have had something to do with the Braves not pushing or pressing much.
The Braves put a very nice press on Lake City in game 1 and outscored them 28-13 in the 4th quarter; they are very athletic for a tall team and good athletes make for a good pressing team.
I think this Flathead squad has to be considered a contender at this point.
No offense to J. DeHerrera, but if they had a TRUE point guard, I'd make them the favorite to take home the hardware.
I didn't travel to the game; is Helena High really that bad?

Helena high is very inexperienced and at times has three, four sophomores on the court. They will struggle all year, just don't have enough good players at this point in their career to compete night in night out. I think Kalispell is good, but I don't feel like they can compete with the top two or three teams on a consistent basis. Their guard play is pretty inconsistent and I'm not sure they are real deep without a decent drop off in play. Much better than I thought they would be though.

I've now been able to watch three Helena High games and this is easily the worst they've been in atleast twenty years. Having a winless season is a possibility this year. They only have seven more home games, and they won't win outside of Helena because they haven't done that since the State tourney in 04

Tatarka looked to have a struggle but the thing i was impressed about was that garland was held to 12 points. I am assuming Howard guarded him. I thought that he couldn't play Defense. That is pretty good for someone who can't D up.
