Most Griz fans think that this is the best job in the country and that anyone would love to coach here. I love the Griz, but the older I get the more rational I am when discussing this team. The last two coaching searches were pretty bleak if I am remembering correctly.
You're including bobby as one of the two "bleak" searches? He self-nominated for both of the last two Haslam initiated, Stitt got the first one and he got the second. Stitt was the 'It" guy, when he was hired, whether that was true or not. Haslam was promoted and Delaney was "appointed" because the hour was late. Pflu took them to the semifinals before tragedy struck. And that was another AD.
Eck topk the role at Idaho, after they were chased back to FCS status with their tails between their legs, and Petrino nearly ran the program into the ground. He was a pretty successful coordinator at an FCS Bluebood. If he continues to win, he'll be on to the next job with more responsibility and money in the blink of an eye. Montana is an attractive program for those looking to climb the ladder. Thee won't be any shortage of qualified applicants. Whomever might be considered, when the time comes, will know all there is to know about expectations, donors and the like. Good coaches are good coaches for a lot of reasons.
You may have missed it, but theres another Hauck in the coaching ranks right now who in five years, when Bobby is reportedly "walking away", might just be in the mix to be the guy.
