Stitt's backup came in a played relatively well, if not very well. Jensen threw at 60%, had the same passing efficiency as Phillips and threw 20 TD passes. He had 6 rushing TD's too. Compare that to Brown and the other guy. Still took him to FBS. No one had it way worse than last year, in my view.
Self inflicted, to be sure. But hey, let's give him a pass, right?

otherwise, i hope you enjoyed vietnam. it's like visiting china twenty years ago - the infrastructure and economy isn't 'there' yet, but the people are open, friendly, and optimistic (for the most part, people are people, after all...)
Somewhat true, but my point was that Jensen performed way better than the Griz backups last year. There wasn't as big of drop off with Jensen. I thought Brown would do better last season.
Went to Saigon twice, and Mekong Delta. Great tour guide. Queenie. Went to Thailand and Cambodia too. Stayed in all very fancy hotels, where my friend had booked. Executive floor. Cars. Had visa problem coming into Saigon and got hung up for several hours in middle of night, as Korean Air helped me get an emergency visa. Typo in my middle name. Great trip. Much easier to navigate than Beijing. My Seattle nephew brought his Taiwanese girlfriend to a family wedding in MT last weekend. I sat next to her at dinner. A Bellevue high cheerleader several years ago and very pretty. Knew Peter N. and John K. from Bellevue high. Was conceived in Taiwan, but born in US. I thought of you. I told her you hated China.

Maybe. Good luck.
This is just false, though.argh! said:HelenaHandBasket said:Maybe. Good luck.
you actually aren't that bad. we all let our biases show when posting. but again, i didn't like stitt, and so far hauck hasn't objectively been much better, using the big sky as the measuring stick. i choose the big sky because it hasn't changed as much as the top of the fcs has, with so many of the really good teams leaving.
it is almost a given these days that your first team qb will miss games, and i don't see why people give 6th place hauck a break when they didn't give 6th place (or whatever) stitt a break.

Stitt finished his last two seasons in 8th and T-6th place (tied with the cats, who he lost to), losing to some truly horrible teams along the way. And if you don't just look at the Big Sky, it gets worse for him.
And I'm definitely not a Hauck die-hard. If he doesn't get it done this year, I think Haslam would be totally justified in trying to find someone else. I just can't let this comparison between our last two coaches go when it's clear who has done a better job.
In some ways the situations are similar, but in a lot of ways, they aren't. Bobby isn't out here losing to 4-7 Cal Poly, 5-6 NAU, or 4-7 MSU with his starting QB. I also don't think losing to 7-4 EWU, 7-4 MSU, and Top 5 ranked 9-2 Weber in 2017 is comparable to losing to #1 seed 11-0 Sac, 9-2 Weber and 10-1 #3 ranked MSU all on the road last year.AZGrizFan said:uofmman1122 said:This is just false, though.

Is "being better" enough, though? PR wants to excuse away the 4 regular season losses last year due to injured starting QBs, while at the same time discounting the injuries (and lack of scholarships) that Stitt teams had to deal with. It's disingenuous.
I agree with the bolded sentence, BTW.
Are you talking about the guy who is now out of the game slinging insurance or whatever?argh! said:mthoopsfan said:So, without its starting qb, UM lost 2 close games to SS and Weber. One seeded team and 1 that people believe was rated 9th. Lost to a semifinal team, plus a playoff team, Idaho. Those were the conference losses. Lost to a final team on the road. NDSU has only lost 1 home playoff game, ever.
UM ranked nos. 6 and 6 in the nation post-season in 2020 and 2021, and fell to 14th last season (due only to not having Johnson for the SS and Weber games). Only 4 FCS teams have had better average post-season rankings in the past 3 years. Besides those 4 teams, which FCS teams have been better than UM in the period of the last 3 years?
Won playoff games each of last 3 years.
if you are going to continually use the "it was because the qb was injured" excuse for hauck, you gotta use it for the guy you didn't like - he had it way worse. but you won't, and neither will most of the other die-hard hauck supporters.

Hauck sits at 67% winning record and a 1-3 record vs the neighbors in his second tenure (did not include 2 spring games.
For the sake of argument, are these not similar? I want to reiterate that I am simply bored at work, am not advocating to BH to get canned, and am rooting for the grizzlies to win every game this fall.
My point is in the college football world, Haslem and UM are in a tough situation in terms of a new contract with Coach Hauck. I don’t believe BH currently has a contract offered to him, otherwise he would have signed it. There is nothing stopping him from negotiating another one following a successful season, and bigger schools would simply pay the small buyout that BH would get. What if we lose 5 games this fall? Do you sign him to a 3 year deal? Are fans okay with that? Are boosters? Not an easy position to be in.

1-2. Won in ‘15 and lost in ‘16 and ‘17.
