AND...they claimed 1406 for UND/SUU and 1311 for PSU/NCU...
Right now have a Southland Conference game, New Orleans vs SE Louisiana, on TV*. (#5 vs #8 seed.) It's taking place at a neutral site in Katy, Texas. From the crowd shots, I'd guess that there are not more than a couple hundred (maybe less) in the place. It's so quiet, the announcers' mikes pick up the echoes from (half-hearted) chants from the cheer squads.

So it's not just the Big Sky. :( :?
(Will admit that the power-five venues have had decent crowds.)

* DirecTV channel 788. We got the Sports package for football, but it's paying off for BBall too. :thumb:

Edit: I see online that Air Force and UNLV have gone into their second overtime. How come ROOT or Altitude doesn't have this game on?
Having watched much of the Lady Griz bball today, maybe it is good people don't see it. This is not good basketball, even for the ladies. The game has really moved on yet it doesn't appear the Big Sky teams are aware of that. I caught a South Carolina women game this year and they look lie they are playing an entirely different game. Dynamic coaching seems to be the one thing in common the good teams have. But, it is what it is in the BSC.

OMG! :o
Air Force hit a buzzer-beater trey at the end of OT to force their game against UNLV into triple overtime. Damn, I wish that was being broadcast on TV!

Yeah. Cause comparing the SEC to the bsc is always a good idea....

Good god, man.
No, they simply have great talent, good coaching and built it from nothing..but, if you are happy with the program, then enjoy. Lowered expectations is ok, I guess.

Yes, I'm very happy with the LG program, thanks. I know you're not.

WOW!!!! Just took a look into the BSC womens' tourney and saw a 3 pt basket with .4 seconds by ISU beat MSU..a number 9 down #1...games like this is a good argument for a neutral court as I doubt ISU would have pulled this out...

Yeah getting lucky, yes ISU played very well but would we really be sending our best team on? Where is the reward for winning the conference ?

Count me as a solid supporter of THE LG.
It is an amazing program known nationwide especially for the coaching.

I am happy the men represent UM very well and the woman give it their all. It is what it is. I am a person with high expectations. I am not happy with many egriz posters but that feeling is mutual, so big deal..

All this means is the Southland is probably making the same mistake the Big Sky is.

I post here as a fan and I'm proud to be a longtime (since Robin Selvig's first year) loyal fan. I firmly believe that -- though often outmatched in talent alone -- the Lady Griz will always give their all w/a well played and competitive game. That said, I almost always respect the view of other posters with a rational argument. Respect your view, LA, but disagree strongly. The two programs when the Lady Griz got close (Shannon Cate's and Marti Leibenguth's years) they were exceptional... but still couldn't quite crest the hill. Those teams were the exceptions... but Montana fans really cannot expect or demand that on a frequent basis. This year's team had problems shooting consistently. But they always left it all on the floor. Can't ask more from dedicated student athletes like these young women.

Since this is about attendance, I am watching The ACC tourney, Florida St vs Va Tech. Not that many more folks there than at Reno. You could buy a ticket close to the floor at either place.

There was....playing the #9 seed....

I'm so glad the tourney is designed to reward the team that wants to win the most, instead of the team coasting on their laurels.

Serious question: Then why even play the regular season? Let's just a play a 4 game tournament and be done with it.

To prep for the post season
Why do you think they play a reg season?
and a follow up question, do you happen to own a participation ribbon factory?

The SEC may send 8 teams this year. For the Big Sky's sole rep, it should be a conf tourney battle between the top 4 with hopefully the top two playing for the sole tournament spot.
