griz win, if...

Posted this in the prediction thread...The only thing I'm predicting is that the final score of the two teams will be within 5 or so...Heart, says Griz, 65-60, head says, Wisc. 63, UM 58. Yeah, we don't have "established depth," but the young guys (Gregory, Henderson, DeShields) have all had their moments when they've given us unexpected offense. And, I think that is all we'll need for a win. However, my pick for our unexpected offense is a player that seemingly everyone has forgotten...Michael Weisner...:coffee:
I hear ya bu Nobody on here has forgotten our man Weisner. six -sevin smooth, pretty quick and smart. We will need his length.

Iowa swept the Badgers with fewer athletes than the Griz have. Iowa had a RPI of 136 the last time they beat the Badgers. Montana's RPI is 75. The Badger's attribute the loss to one player shooting the lights out. One could also say Iowa was able to recognize the hot hand, fed him and the Wisconsin coaching staff was too rigid to adjust their D to stop the kid. In many respects this should be an easy game for the staff to gameplan. They are what they are and they aren't going to change.

Both games were close. In game one nobody for Wisconsin could shoot and in the second one an Iowa guy went off big time. These things happen. Iowa wasn't good enough to make the dance and Montana was. Of course Montana can beat Wisconsin.

Game 1 in Madison:

The Badgers, meanwhile, didn’t make nearly enough shots. They had their second-worst shooting game of the season (34.8 percent) and were a dismal 3 for 28 on 3-pointers on the same day their top-ranked defense allowed a season-high for points. Wisconsin hadn’t allowed more than 61 points in its first 14 games and came in giving up an average of 44.4 points.

“If you hit shots, it’s amazing how much better your defense looks,” Badgers coach Bo Ryan said after his team had its six-game winning streak snapped.

Game 2 at Iowa:
(Matt) Gatens scored a career-high 33 points and Iowa beat No. 16 Wisconsin 67-66 for its second straight win over a ranked opponent.

It was the second straight career-high for Gatens, who had 30 points in Iowa’s win over then-No. 18 Indiana on Sunday. He was 7 of 10 shooting from 3-point range in both games, and at one point hit 12 straight 3s dating to that effort against the Hoosiers.

I have changed my Facebook profile pic back to what it was the days we swept the Cats, beat Weber the last night of the season, and won the conference tournament. Obviously the Badgers are doomed.

Here's what has to happen for the Griz to win if the Badgers control the tempo and the Griz D up:
Kareem scores 12
Cherry scores 12
Ward scores 12
Selvig scores 10
Steward scores 8
Obviously I think the real numbers will be different.

I will be talking to the special lady friend about my "early morning coitis" theory..

Plus tomorrow is my 30th birthday, so I can feel this baby coming together..

Man, your last sentence there? That's just full of double entendre'. And I don't know if you want to mention baby there if you aren't meaning to get pregnant!

Give her a good poke in the whiskers for me, man! ;)

Well gents, I have done all I can with the superstition angle..Really good performance too, if I may toot my own horn a bit. I have a phone call into Tinks, so I am fairly certain that he will pass on my good news to the team, and they shall receive my offering of good faith..

Also, PeauxRouge, my old man did pass on some wisdom to me, and one of his axioms was "the mouth can't get pregnant." I followed his advice, so no fear of any little Geddes' (I must have skipped the day of 3rd grade when they taught how to properly punctuate words ending with an S, grammar nazis, permission granted) running amok in the near future..

I liked the way Montana played early on. Got inside and scored. But it took too long to adjust to Evans and when Bo adjusted the Badger defense, suddenly the Grizz offense dried up. Once Evans was shut down, the rest of the team picked up. Kitty by the door.

That's fairly predictable as Bo often makes effective defensive adjustments. The good shooting by the Badgers was not predictable. In 2011/12 it has come and gone. We had it today. Any kind of game is possible Saturday against Vandy or Harvard.

Interesting game and it was nice chatting with you. I'll follow the Grizz next season. Good luck in football and basketball in 2012/13!
