Who was it that kicked it out to Gfeller? Incredible play! They recognized they didn't have time to bring it down and pass it, but just tapped it out to him. One of the plays of the game.
I believe it was Breunig. Just went up caught the missed shot and threw it out in one motion. Great play!

This shows it.

I think Breunig got the 1st one, and Gregory tracked the 2nd one and kicked it to 3feller.

In looking at that replay, I can see it was Breunig who tapped it out to Gfeller. Sort of like a volleyball player hitting it over the net. Incredible play, very heady.

Breunig did get the ball to Gfeller

You know, Breunig is a really good passer for a big guy. I didn't check the stats, but I think he had quite a few assists tonight.

And that, folks, is the assist of the year for the Griz.

It was really 3 great plays:
Gregory somehow tracking down the rebound off his first missed shot.
Breunig's awesome kick out.
Gfellers pure shot.

Yup. Play (s) of the year in my book

I knew Gregory and Martin each had one of the rebounds. I got so excited when 3feller hit the shot, I forgot who did what on that possession.

Here is the video of the last 8 seconds (no audio).

Notice #22 does not have his feet set at all and moves into Gregory (who admittedly is a bit out of control there). The replay they show is the better of the two angles.

Also for anyone who wasn't able to watch it on BigskyTV here is the play that tied it up at the end of the 2nd overtime (no audio again). Breunig did a hell of a job tipping it back to both Gregory for the 2nd shot attempt and then Gfeller.

Poto, thank you SOOO much for the vids. It was just me and the radio pup app tonight, so I appreciate seeing the final seconds.

Kind of sounds like sour grapes. Your team loses tonight and the next team in line wins and your first thought " I am going to show up on their board and be a dick"....

Golden is often a dick. That's not specific to today.

What's clear is that eeoooooo fans are wising up to who the best team in this Conf is, and that team ain't in CheneyVille.

Thanks Potomic. I think Jordan got fouled twice on the drive. He doesn't lose control from the hip check. Not until the second guy hits him while doing the shuffling back peddle. Good call.

Wow, that was some "pass."

Just wow!

Yeah, Potomac, thanks for posting those videos.

In watching the game last night, I wondered if Gregory got a break on the call. He was coming toward the camera, and it looked as though the defenders might have been set.

But the side angle the video provides clearly show the defenders weren't set. Gregory was doing what the coach wanted, initiating contact and he got the call which, fortunately, was the right one.

But that is a tough one for the official to make when things are moving that fast.

Will this game give the Griz a lot of confidence moving into their last series of games? I'd hope so....

Thanks for videos. On the Gregory drive, the defender was moving and not even close to being set to draw a charge. Also looked like the guy from behind pushed Gregory.

Breunig's "pass" was incredible. Very smart, great court awareness, and great execution. Great shot by 3Feller too. Note how far Gregory had to go to get his rebound of the missed shot from the corner. That was also a nice play.

It sure seems like a lot of posters are very critical of this team. This team has clearly overachieved the expectations placed on them thanks to Coach DeCuire and the players for buying into a new coach's philosophy. It has taken them awhile to get on the same page but they have and I am excited for them and their future. When you think about it if Gregory was shooting free throws earlier in the year and he has in the past and is currently doing we would have wins over a good Boise State team and California. Its time to offer them our congratulations rather than criticism. Regardless of how the next 5 games and the tournament turn out they were picked 7th and 8th, if I remember correctly, and they won't finish there. Kudos to them and good luck the rest of the way. Go Griz!

That was 12 seconds of great basketball.

Gregory grabbing the first tip out from Breunig, then racing beyond the 3pt line - had he made it - would have been nearly a carbon copy of when Reggie Miiller hit a 3, stole the in-bounds pass, then raced beyond the 3 pt line and hit another three.

Agree with most of what you write, Griz1. Montana was picked anywhere from 8th to 5th by most professional media publications. But Travis DeCuire and his assistants -- Ken Bone, Jonathan Metzger Jones, Chris Cobb and operations director Marlon Stewart -- have done an incredible job with the Griz program. They've also worked hard to drum up community and student support.

I haven't picked up the negative vibes from this site (a couple of grumps) that you have though. Most posters here are avid Griz hoops fans with a background usually starting as student fans. Most Griz season ticket holders became enthusiastic supporters of this team by early December (before injuries took a toll). Most feel as you do that this program under Travis DeCuire has a bright future.

Amazing to me is that these players have committed to this program so completely. I think they're just now starting to jell. And their ceiling is pretty high, by my estimation. That future could start to be realized much sooner than we thought... although I agree that this team has already achieved well beyond what most folks expected before the season began.

The Griz, with this recent road sweep, just put themselves back into title contention. That's pretty remarkable.

I am amazed at everything it took for Gfeller's game tying 3 to even happen. Unbelievable hustle and awareness by Gregory on the 1st miss to keep it alive. That is exactly why coaches preach to never watch a play and to always know where your man is. UNC needed to keep a body on him, and they didn't.

The awareness of Breunig to not secure that ball, and quickly do an accurate tap pass to Breunig to get the shot off with so very little time is also amazing.

Finally, the awareness of Gfeller to be in position to get that shot. Many teams would of had everyone going to get the ball in that situation and would have found no shooter in position. Again, that is something great coaches tell a team. We need to make sure 1 or 2 of our best shooters are in position to shoot the ball if we keep the ball alive!!!

That whole possession was the perfect storm for the GRIZ, and worse storm for UNC. We have all seen game winning or game tying shots, but this one was beyond the normal. To add even further to it, mental breakdowns were the main reason why the GRIZ let UNC back into this game. In this possession, mental thinking and awareness were perfect by/from Gregory, Breunig, and Gfeller. This whole possession just defies the odds. The events leading to plays like that are few and far between in basketball.

Moments likes this often allow a team to take their game to a new level. This could be the "We have arrived" moment for this year's GRIZ team, and possibly DeCuire's coaching career. As for me, I will never forget this game or this play. It's a great day to be a GRIZ!!!!

I agree that the team is very good and seems to have over-achieved. I was worried about them at the start of the season, especially the defense. I could see nice depth, but I didn't know if the starters would be good enough to win consistently. Turned out that the depth has allowed many guys to play and contribute. The teams plays smart most of the time and is unselfish.

Even tho the conference doesn't seem to have a truly dominant team, unless EWU or SS qualify, the Griz have played well, fought hard, and been fairly consistent. The 2 wins this weekend were huge, especially given the giveaway at SS a few weeks ago. The Griz have a fairly tough remaining schedule. and some toughs ones on the road (like this past weekend). If they can figure a way to beat EWU on the road, and stay consistent, they may be in the mix at the end. Would be huge to get the tourney at home. Hats off to the players and coaches. Fun season.
