Griz vs NAU

Maybe that was the context, GrizWhiz. Sorry. I was half working, half listening and I heard him say that. And before I heard him say that I read a post wishing Tinks would get pissed at his players.

Tinkle has gone to bunker mentality - hey if it helps motivate the team to think it is the media and fans that are the problem fine, whatever works. maybe what is really missing on this team is a good assistant coach who can take the players aside and motivate them.

Mick and Tinks agree the Griz didn't need to win this game - i guess the 7 game losing streak isn't important (I don't count wins over NAIA teams, just like the NCAA doesn't) because you just need to split on the road and win your home games to win your conference. Problem is, now the Sac State game is a must win, and might not be winnable the way this team is playing. So where does a loss leave you? Still thinking you win your home games, you might ve a shot at the tourney? Hoping to get to 10 D-I wins?

serious question, how many players have set their career high against Montana this year? Taylor last week, and Landry this week, Gonzaga and CS Fullerton players set career highs, i think there might have been others - I think it will be a theme this year. I wonder who sets a new high on Saturday?

Taylor just set a new record tonight, so I guess your theory is now out the window. The Griz held NAU to 2 3 pointers and outrebounded them. The achilles tonight was turnovers, plain and simple. Everyone knew going in that Landry was a stud. He has led them in scoring nearly every game this season.

Since so many of you are ready to abandon the Griz, please PM me your bets for the Sac game on Saturday. None of this $5 crap either, start at $500 or don't bother. :thumb:

Sac State leading msu 30-26 4:40 1st half

I dont expect it to last, but needed some highlight other than the LG romp

I don't know! SSU always seems so athletic and I expect to see them make a run this season. I see them as a spoiler and capable of beating anybody. I could be wrong but it seems like they are always tough to play in conference.

Uh, I don't think so I/O. Sac has not beaten a D1 team this season, and it appears they are about to blow a 10 point lead late in the second half to msu.

UNBELIEVABLE, msu misses 3 out of 4 FT's in the last minute and PISSES the game away. ISU alone in 1st place in the BSC, Go Figure!

I/O...make that one win over a D1 team, and I couldn't be happier. msu could easily lose at NAU.

sac by one...........no gloating tonight though...not a good night for the Griz either and now sac is going to have some confidence when they face the Griz.

No one is gloating, but that was a lot bigger loss than the Griz loss. I think NAUI could definitely beat msu, and I will bet on the Griz Sat. :twocents:

Did you read what I said and please try and grasp the meaning of context. If you go back and read reallllllly slow, you will see that I am referring to Sac States 1st win over a D1 team, see, it wasn't that hard was it. And the happy part is because it was over a team that was playing the best BB in the BSC. Good grief.

Then you need some comprehension assistance. The spacing was placed there so you would NOT take it out of context, yet you did it anyway. You can lead a horse to water.............

And if ANYONE thinks this was anything more than getting out coached in the 2nd half (by 17 points!!!), you are wrong PERIOD.

Ok, Wayne needs to work on his ball handling skills. He had 22 freaking turnovers.

Gold.

Westsider, this was not a coaching loss. Tinkle does not throw the ball away.

You are right on! True that Tinkle can't be out there, and he is not one making the turnovers... but it seems like a common trend with Tinkle.

All season we hear how we need to finish games, and yes this involves the coaches, our guards were making those turnovers because they appeared lost and confused about what the NAU backcourt was doing to them.... Tell me why NAU wasn't doing this in the first half? Given Cam fouling out hurt, (that 5th foul was BS) but it wasn't like he was having a stellar game.

At this point the problems are our guards play, and our coaches inability to go in at the half and make adjustments and sense what the other coaches adjustments will be coming into the second half.

Hopefully we can turn things around at SAC and get things on the right track, because this team has some serious talent. Hopefully Tinks gives Sharp some more minutes, he always seem to play solid.

I watched the first half of this game, then had to play a tennis match so I dvr'd the second half. I don't think I'll even watch the damn thing.

I'm not about to give up on the Griz, but I am extremely disappointed. There doesn't seem to be any heart. I know a lot of people thought the Griz played well in the first half, but I'll tell you, offensively I didn't see it. They played good defense and they rebounded exceptionally well. But on the offensive side, I saw little effort. People were standing around, not coming off screens hard, not coming hard to the ball. And I didn't see anyone try to get back door. Those plays are effort plays. I can handle losses to better teams/better players. But when losses are due to lack of effort, I get frustrated.
