Looks to be a see-saw battle so far, both Weber and Oregon have been up by 6 points at one point. 39 - 35 Ducks.
UM did ok in the second half. Not having a major go to guy next year might actually help the Griz develop a more complete game. The half court is ok if you have a Qvale and a perimeter shooter...next year, there won't be a big man, so we are going to have to pick it up. I hope Tinkle and the AD can schedule teams like Duquesne, Kent, Wichita so that come BSC tourney time, the Griz will be the fastest and best and most experienced. This wasn't necessarily a bad loss. Would have liked to have seen another outcome, but it is for next year. Congrats to Qvale..PeauxRouge said:TheFace said:Guys, your Brian Qvale is a special player. It must have been fun watching him the past four years.
You have some young quick guards and that helped you out against a style that it sounded like you haven't seen much of in the Big Sky.
I hope we see you someday in the Big Dance!
Try none. We saw NO ONE that quick this year and the Griz played all over the west coast. Loved watching the Dukes play, they really are an unselfish team that can find and attack the holes in most defenses. I hope you guys win this whole thing.

Oh yeah, completely agree. I don't think it's a bad loss at all. I think the young guys now see what it is going to take to compete on the national level. Very glad that the Griz jumped into this tournament despite the outcome.
The beauty of college basketball is that, while much of what you say is true, in one year, a team like Bucknell, or Gonzaga, or St. Mary's, can put a team together that can make it to the top 16 and beyond. It isn't easy. There is no reason Montana cannot do the same. We have some very big time talent now, but lots of questions for next year. So much depends upon style of play, injuries and confidence. Look at Notre Dame this year....they have vastly improved and they are a threat to win it all...that happened nearly overnight..a good coach, recruits, fan base, and schedule with set goals in mind can turn Montana into a real player's team. The second half tonight showed potential...not a downer, not by a long shot...and, I am usually pessimistic after Griz losses.Growler1 said:You guys are not gonna like hearing this, but from an old fart who has been an avid BB fan for many years, as well as a former NCAA basketball official who worked conferences much higher-ranked than the Big Sky, I will tell you that the disparity between the top 20-40 college basketball teams in the nation, and Montana is MUCH GREATER today than it was in the Heathcote/Brandenburg/Monte/Morrill days of old. In those days, there were several years where Montana would be ranked in the Top 40-60 teams nationally. Now, we can not crack the Top 100. Not being negative, just stating the facts.
