Griz :vs: Duquesne game thread

Well, one good sign out of all this mess here is that a true freshman, Kareem Jamar, has 21 points tonight, at least. Looks good for the future, in that regard.

And why losing this game isn't the end of the world!

That sucked.

But THANK YOU Mr. Qvale!

And I'm really, really looking forward to watching this team next year. Work hard in the summer. Find a serious shooter in the JC ranks.

Go GRIZ.

Well, crap, cruddy way to end the season, but I am encouraged by the way the Griz played the second half, especially the young players. I really enjoyed that game. I think had the Griz had any experience with a team like that any time during the season the outcome would have been closer and we may have even eeked it out. Front, you guys have a great young team and I fully expect to see your team in the NCAAs soon. I would even have picked you to knock off a team this year had you made it. Good effort, Griz, and THANK YOU BQ! Single-Season Blocks record holder! Awesome!

Guys, your Brian Qvale is a special player. It must have been fun watching him the past four years.

You have some young quick guards and that helped you out against a style that it sounded like you haven't seen much of in the Big Sky.

I hope we see you someday in the Big Dance!

If we made all our free-throws, about nine if not mistaken, al least it would have been a one possession game; not too bad. An excellent team in Duquesne with only two seniors to think of and five players in double figures. Should be better next year for them, mayhaps. Best regards.

This might have been a great learning experience for next year. The Griz outplayed them in the second half, and that has been a mark of this team all year. I don't know about the talent level disparity, but, for the most part, the talent level is here, the style of play isn't. UM showed it can run and gun when they can and maybe, that is the formula for next year.....Not a bad second half...Tinkle shows an ability to adjust and that is key.....

I do not see the GRIZ struggling as much from 3 as they did this year. I am more worried about developing our bigs to replace Qvale. Offensively, Steward and Jamar can be post up SF's and SG's, if need be. Selvig has to get on the weights, and find a mean attitude. I liked the little we seen of Reader this year. Hutchison will be solid on the boards, and defense. Ward can certainly score from mid range, and will only get better.

As for the perimeter......Cherry will be better. Wood is question mark still. I wonder about Adams and Autry being back . Jamar will only get better, especially if Tinkle tells him to prepare for SG minutes next season. Wiesner, looks like he is the real deal from outside. Richardson and Gregory are both scorers, and will be given a shot to compete for minutes next season. Stockton, has his moments, but not a scorer.

I hope we give Wiesner a legit shot at rotational minutes as our shooter next season.

Try none. We saw NO ONE that quick this year and the Griz played all over the west coast. Loved watching the Dukes play, they really are an unselfish team that can find and attack the holes in most defenses. I hope you guys win this whole thing.
