Griz vs. App State Predictions....

Griz 41 - 16. What the score would have been if the Colts didn't have three interceptions in the Jets endzone and two missed FGs. Plus one to Jimmy Orr that was wide open. FU Joe Namath. (No harm intended, he being a great competitor that brought honour to the game):

Canada, Van and Counts have fairly decent & consistent day's rushing, setting up the play action for the long pass plays to Jamaal Jones, Ellis Henderson and Sean Haynes. DEs Holmes and Wagenmann have a field day in Appalachian state's backfield.

33-24 Griz win. The beginning of a long walk back to the top of the polls where we belong. Someone will step up and have a big game that no one was counting on.

Griz win 20-17. The Sean Price suspension is a factor. Plus, UM wins the "time of possession battle" with ball control. The Griz have no turnovers.

App 38 Montana 28 first game as HC for Satterfield, team isn't going lose it for him, cant wait to see what his offense is going to look like, got a feeling he is going to throw a lot of new schemes at Montana that he didn't use last year, or hasn't shown to the public at this fall camp. Also new DC, going to be fun to see what he throws at the Griz, I don't know what the strategy is for Montana, but get the feeling Apps is wide open on both sides of the ball.

Let me try to help u understand last years game. Montana not having JJ as our Qb last year would have been as much of a game changer as AE not playing in our teams last meeting in the playoffs.

When I made my predictions yesterday, it was before I knew Price was suspended, that really hurts our chances, since he demanded a double team. The good thing, even without Price this still is a top 5 passing attack in the FCS, and looking at your secondary, I still believe App is going to have a clear advantage in the passing game, Im still picking App, but just not as confident, changing my score App 34, Grizz 31

This game, both teams win! Last time we play the great App State. Going to be a sad event when it comes to a close. App State fans are fantastic and will miss the comaraderie of the past 5 years. I would love this game to go into overtime. Been a long time since we have had an overtime game in Wash/Griz.
Here's to a great game and a lot of fun for one last time!!!
Cheers!

I agree. Here's to a great game for great fans, to bad it has to end this year. IMHO the Griz win out by 3

If you believe in karma, this game is going to be as epic as the playoff game in the snow. It is a shame this series has to end, I remember before App and Montana finally played everyone talked about the "best in the West" and the "beast in the East", and how they couldn't wait for the two flagship programs to finally meet. When it finally happened, it did not disappoint, it was one the rare times in sports that a game lived up to the hype. Funny thing, when App was thinking about moving up, alot of App fans voiced their opinions one way or the other, and one of the negatives for moving up was it would end the series with Montana, both regular season and playoffs, you guys will be missed.

Any reason why the Griz can't get invited to Boone and play you there every once in a while?
Sun Belt doesn't have any problems with you playing us at your place does it? :thumb:
The Griz kept their rivalry going with Idaho for a while after the Vandals moved up......
Go Griz!

for the next 5-7 years, its going to be really tough, Apps cost of doing business just went up dramatically, for the next 3-5 years we are going to be the "bcs bitches" playing at whatever school will give us a huge paycheck. We are also trying to set up a yearly game with UNCC, ECU, and Wake Forest. Not saying we will not eventually play again, but atleast for the next 5 years or so, we need money, so we will take our ass kicking and collect huge paychecks from BCS schools.

The Grizzlies are getting hungry! 34-24 Grizzlies

What you say makes me apprehensive for you guys, though, considering what happened to the University of Connecticut with their Fiesta Bowl invite in 2011 against Oklahoma. Granted, national television exposure might just enhance recruitment and marketing, but the estimated cost of that invite for the Athletic Department of the Univ. of Connecticut was certainly more that the economical proceeds: http://articles.courant.com/2011-03-02/news/hc-uconn-fiesta-bowl-loss-20110302_1_advance-tickets-fiesta-bowl-stubhub" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; The aforementioned cost being quite conservative, from what I have come to understand, with the mandated need for UConn's responsibility to sell some 17,500 tickets and eventually only selling about 2,770. Plus the 550 some hotel rooms that had to be paid for, etc. http://www.nhregister.com/general-news/20101215/no-bowl-bonanza-for-uconn-football-teams-trip-to-arizona-brings-prestige-but-could-cost-school-a-bundle" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Besides, UConn, being also a FCS (I-AA) school up to the time they transitioned in 2000, with a Skip Holtz as a Head coach up to 1998, has had a stellar basketball program, both men's and women's, over the past couple decades that allowed, apparently, the university to absorb, so to speak, the immense cost of their football team going to the Fiesta Bowl that year (2011). Some estimates ranging up to $ 10 million, overall. But does Appalachian State?

With the BSC (Big Sky Conference), if not mistaken, the University of Idaho is rejoining in all sports but football in the next couple years; remaining an independent in that sport, conference wise. Boise State, also a former BSC member, having been much more successful at their new level of presentation than the Vandals. Conceivably an under the surface of appearances aside reason of the difficulty of two western schools, especially from the same state, competing against each other, not only on the field and/or basketball court but against each other economically as well. On my own part it's some what surprising to me that around this time of year that people off the road travelling come into a bar and/or lounge expecting, as Bronco fans, a Boise State football game on television as a matter of fact, quite naturally, regardless of anybody else from around the area watching their games: such as the Univ. of Wyoming, Idaho, Idaho State, Montana State or the Griz. They sometimes get rather uppidty about all that, even if they're only about 'as good as' two states away.

I hope it isn't just because of Georgia Southern's intimidation of joining the Sun Belt (FBS level) Conference that may have led Appalachian State to decide to do likewise. And that if The Mountaineers are somewhat successful at their new location that a similar fate doesn't transpire that hit UConn. Which could conceivably set back your accomplishments in the athletic field in a more drastic fashion since your basketball program might not be able to bail out economically your athletic department and university as the Huskies' have been able to do.

App States defense is going to be on their game...But so is ours!

Lol no way this game is going to be a low-scoring affair. These two teams have too much offensive power. :thumb:

Agreed...but are you saying that the defenses aren't capable of shutting down the offenses because that would just be wrong. Our front seven is undoubtedly the best in FCS right now soooo...

WyomingGrizfan, great response, I cant disagree with anything you post, years ago I remember, reading in detail, what happen to Conn, they lost so much money on the Fiesta bowl. The move up for App wasn't a choice, it had to be done, too much uncertainly with the direction of the FCS. The good thing is we are going into this with a realistic attitude, we know its going to be a major struggle, just hope it works out for us.

I hope for the best for ya. Best of luck. It'll be interesting, to say the least, watching how it'll all transpire.
