Hey Griz Nation! Was hoping to get a roll call on egriz members that are part of the QB club. What’s the biggest benefit of the club in y’all’s opinion?
I think he does it to annoy you, specifically. Why is Bobby "entirely different" within the QB Club versus other public interactions? He's so antagonistic with media that he ends up pissing off lots of fans who want a little more info about their team.
Don Read's come all "Griz Den" lunches in the day were awesome. The whole town got inside glimpses at upcoming opponents and lots of other info. Read's personality really added to the events. This was "program building" at its best.
Now we get a little pre and post game mumbling on a local news clip as Bobby stares down at his "notes".
Don Read never told anyone, including QB anything that could end up on a bulletin board. Vanilla was his favorite word. He was totally paranoid. But he made QB Club very fun and entertaining. No video at meetings to discuss past or future games. He didn’t need it. Always the upcoming opponent was the biggest, fastest, strongest team he had ever seen (even if we were playing sisters of the poor) and it would take playing our best game to win. We spent more time roasting him than talking football it seemed. He was the best straight man around. Great coach. Totally understood his audience. Understood he not only needed to represent Grizzly Football but also needed to be an ambassador for UM as a whole in the recruitment of future enrollment. He was the face of the university in a very positive and classy way.Why is Bobby "entirely different" within the QB Club versus other public interactions? Let’s call it like it is Missoula media hasn’t always been too friendly to Hauck or the Griz program. I can see why he’s a little bit jaded or hesitant with them. He also gets super annoyed with really dumb questions, which the media tends to ask in spades and repeatedly. They need to up their game if they want him to up his.Why is Bobby "entirely different" within the QB Club versus other public interactions? Have you considered listening to stuff like Inside the Den to get that perspective? Why is Bobby "entirely different" within the QB Club versus other public interactions? He's so antagonistic with media that he ends up pissing off lots of fans who want a little more info about their team.

I chuckled all the way through your post. That was good.Don Read never told anyone, including QB anything that could end up on a bulletin board. Vanilla was his favorite word. That's interesting. I often times have to miss the live event as my kids seem to often times have their own sporting conflicts that I'm coaching, so I have Colson email me the link the next day of the replay. They have made a point of passing the microphone to anyone with a question so those are clear. I enjoy listening to the replay. Live in person is no doubt better. But they've improved rhe video quality tremendously. This may be a relatively unpopular take. But as a member who lives 900 miles from Missoula, the biggest benefit for me is knowing I'm helping the program. Yes, the jacket is nice.
But I don't get a ton out of the meetings. They can be interesting, but starting at 5:00 pacific I miss about half of them. And of course I'm sitting in my den watching them myself, so it doesn't have the social aspect. The Q&As are often largely inaudible much of the time.
I don't say this to dissuade anyone from joining because it's a great program. But for those of us way outside Missoula, you need to temper your hopes of great benefits beyond knowing you're advancing the program
It's better, but the passing of the mic is hit and miss at best. Often the person starts speaking and Bobby hears and begins answering the question well before a mic gets to them. It's fine, but there's vast room for improvementThat's interesting. Agree on all points. I've been a member for several years now in spite of recognizing most benefits are for the Missoula crowd. This may be a relatively unpopular take.
