Gesser has very little, if any, coaching experience.

If I get the job we pass most of the time. No screwing around with the run. Pass and win.

Harbaugh had very little coaching experience when he was hired at San Diego. It's definitely a gamble but who are we going to get for 150k?MrTitleist said:indian-outlaw said:Why not give Jason Gesser a shot he's the interim Idaho head coach, a smart young kid and very motivated.

Knows the recruiting territory has coached in the FBS as well as D2 and has built up a winner. Downside is he has a black mark on his record which may not fly here. He is under consideration for the CSU job.

The resume is laced with National Championships as a player and coach and the dude has Tech playing lights out at 6-1 with a win over Carroll in his second season, just as he said he would when he was hired. His defenses are fast and aggressive in his "uptempo 3-4".
Read his profile. The guy just wins! He is intense, hard core and a disciplinarian also. Watch a Tech game. They are playing with a fire and intensity that hasn't been seen for several years.
Here we go again. Sure didn't work out for Central Michigan or Cincinatti or Notre Dame when they got that Kelly guy from GVSU did it. You do realize that with few exceptions almost every coach ever starts out at moving from a lower tear UP right? Most good high school coaches know the difference between division 1 talent and NAIA talent. I'm pretty sure Coach Morrell has a clue.Chief said:Coaching division 1 football is another world from NAIA in terms of recruiting. I'd prefer someone who knows how to recruit the kind of talent we need or is like Bobby and can develop walk-on players into stars.
Why would he have a clue; his whole playing and coaching career has been in NAIA but for one year as an assistant in FCS. I don't have a problem looking at a very successful DII coach; I do have a problem considering an NAIA coach only in his second HC year. It is an enormous jump and has a whole new world of compliance to deal with. NAIA is much closer to HS than it is to DI.RobGriz said:Here we go again. It is evident you only read the last line of what I posted, however I will say that I am not saying he could be "the guy" I just am not going to dismiss him simply because he has only ever been an NAIA coach. Mike Holmgren at one point had only ever been an 8th grade math teacher.kemajic said:Why would he have a clue; his whole playing and coaching career has been in NAIA but for one year as an assistant in FCS.
