I didn't read this but skimmed the coaches names.. why are we so compelled to stay within the good ol' boy network? Why can't we look outside of someone w/ UM/Montana connections?
I explained that in the post. I only mentioned those I am familiar with. I welcome outsiders, just not familiar with any to add. :thumb:
NEWS FLASH: Delanney is a "interim" HC under contract
This off-season is the time to make this transition and move the Grizzly football program forward. The secret "NCAA issues" (if any against the
team), will surely be known by then. Not to mention the young talent that we have now will be well suited to make that transition NOW rather than a year later! They are more seasoned & mature.
We dont need a lame duck coach situation all next year. Perfect time to transition & I have a few names to throw out.
John Papuchis, Nebraska, Defensive Coordinator/Recruiting
Kalani Fifita Sitake, Utah, defensive coordinator/Polynesian Recruiter
David Yost, Missouri offensive coordinator/recruiting coordinator
Jonathan Smith, QB Coach Boise State
Mike Sanford Jr., Stanford Cardinal running backs coach & recruiting coordinator
Scott Frost, Oregon Ducks wide receiver coach/Key Recruiter
Tee Martin, USC Trojans wide receivers coach/Key Recruiter
Rob Akey, former Idaho HC
Bob Nielson (Minnesota Duluth)
Matt Mitchell (Grand Valley State)
Tim Beck (Pittsburg State) Go Gorillas
There's a couple pipe dreams and a couple reasonable thoughts regarding prospective coaching candidates down the road. We have to start looking around now to find the right fit. I would like a guy settled in for the job in 2014.
Give me a really good up and coming coach in 4-7 year intervals and I am a happy guy. Montana will always bred the next generation of college coaches. I guarantee you there's a young guy out there licking his chops to be head guy at a program like we have in Missoula, right now!
He knows what this can be...now we just need to find that guy!
