Griz at Northern Iowa predictions

watched the uni vs. iowa state game in person and IMO we are going to be beaten by a very good team for two reasons.....1. our o-line will not match up with their d-line at all...2. their qb aron biley is a big blur (6'2" 226 lbs) and he runs a lot and running back tyvis smith is a man among boys at 6' 3" 224 lbs , runs down hill and over people....I hope i'm wrong but I know what I witnessed .....35 to 17 uni in this one.

As has been pointed out, it all depends on two things, which Brady Gustafson shows up and for how long and can the Griz D control the UNI running game and not wear down in the 4th quarter.

UNI can have a relatively balanced attack but its no secret they would prefer to run the ball and control the clock. Their philosophy appears to be to use the run to set up the pass. UM uses the pass to set up the run. But both teams can run and both can pass.

Defensively UNI has a very good and experienced front 7 with a questionable secondary. Brady will have to get rid of the ball much quicker than he did last week. He doesn't need to rush but he will have to make quicker decisions and be willing to live with the consequences. The Griz D may have to load the box more than they would like to to stop that running game.

UNI probably has the better ability to come back from a two touchdown deficit but I think if either team gets up by 14 they stand a good chance to win. If UNI gets up by 14 it could be a real long afternoon. If the Griz do they will have to hold on.

UNI will have all the momentum and home field advantage. If the Griz play very very well they could win by 3 to 10 points. If UNI plays its normal game they could win by 7 to 14.

No matter which way it turns out it ought to be very entertaining.

So apparently UNI Coach Mark Farley has invited every football player from the 5 teams that lost to the Griz to Saturday's game. Must be confident. Here's hoping they're disappointed again.

You guys are playing a MVC team so it is going to be too physical for you, UNI wins this one 55-13

MVC .....
Isn't that the conference the Griz are 7-2 against over the last 6 or 7 years?

Hopefully we improve on defense enough to slow UNI up. O line needs to play well, then maybe we have a chance.
24 - 21 GOOD GUYS

It will depend on how efficient our offense can be. Our D is probably good enough to do their job- if they get to rest now and then. We CAN'T come out with 3 and outs on the first possession and after they score and after halftime, etc. There is not going to be any lee way this week. It is on Brady making quicker, sharper throws (with a little more mustard please) and the O line playing meaner. I think our receivers and backs look good and are capable of running UNI ragged. Of course being MVC we better be able to stuff the run, but I think we can. I am betting on a close game could go either way but not more than 7 points. UNI doesn't have a Lorenzo and the staff fixed that aspect I'll bet so kick coverage doesnt worry me.

Screw all of you that are not picking the Griz to win . This is our team you have to have faith my Griz Brethren . The Griz have just as good of a chance as NIU does.

Probably right.....I see that NIU is a......14 point underdog to.....USF.......

Guys we have the talent, getting them all on the same page is the issue. As soon as the Oline starts to give better protection and Brady can trust them that will help us improve on offense rapidly. I think in the first half of last weeks game he was looking more for the incoming defensive player than the guys he was trying to get the ball to. Defense I thought played good enough to make any team we play take notice and be concerned to some degree. Good news, we have some good players that we as well as our next opponent have not seen much of or have tape on so it will be a little more of a question mark to plan for.
If and I preface by saying "IF" we show up and play four full quarters of football there is not a game we should not win this year. I agree, we need to get back to the days when we win because we know we will and should.

going with the heart...not the head.

Griz o-line slows down the heat, play calling takes advantage of the heat...defense holds when it needs to.

Griz 31...other kitty's 27

I think the Griz have a big opportunity here! Whenever you come off a big win like UNI did Saturday, there tends be a let down the next week. Of course, if the Griz come out flat in the first half like last week it's over! UNI is too tough and disciplined to give up a large number of points in the second half at home. If the Griz come in confident and play 4 quarters, I see a very close game. The one concern I have with Brady, is his leadership on the field. When you watch successful quarterbacks, the team rallies behind him. I just don't see the fire in his belly. He played well in the second half, but playing well is only half the battle on the field. We need a general on the field. My two cents!

UNI stuck in the cloud???

What does Montana's visit to Northern Iowa mean?

It means a hell of a lot of badass news for the Panthers!
