Growler has a point on this one. Tackle him once in bounds and its nearly game over. To argue otherwise doesn't make any sense. However, saying and doing are two different things.

Maybe Sullivan cost us the game with the missed FG? If we'd had that, they'd have had to score a TD and not a FG. Or maybe one of the dropped passes that would have resulted in the first down? Or maybe the offensive line, not picking up that 4th down play with 1:21 to go? Or how about Stitt, by going for it on 4th down instead of pinning them deep with no TO's? ANY of those things happen and it's a moot point.

This. Just flat BS to attribute the loss to one thing or one person.

Are you kidding me? We all know that there were plenty of plays which could have won, or lost the game, for both teams. But forget all of that and focus on the final 37 seconds of the game. We know how we got to that point, but the fact is that we should have been able to easily win the game under the circumstances that were present, and we didn't. You can spin it all you like, but the fact is that we blew it, and every Griz fan I have talked to the past two days agrees with me.

The Griz D certainly didn't get the job done on the last drive. That's obvious. Yes the D played well enough for a win. And yes there were a multitude of other Griz mistakes that contributed to the loss. But what nobody is bringing up is that it was a HOME loss....Yes the Griz O played poorly but so did Poly until the last drive of the forth quarter. If you got a team like Poly on the ropes at home, you gotta find a way to put that game away no matter what had happened already. The Griz didn't do that. IMO, that was the biggest issue of this game....

So are those final 37 seconds cursed? I'm guessing if it was 36 seconds we would've won. :)

37 seconds? It's the curse! :o

Or perhaps Stitt could have realized that he is playing a running team and pooch a kick towards the corner to see if Poly can go an extra 10 - 20 yards in the time they had. Montana's line struggles run-blocking but he went with his gut but his gut is getting Montana in some trouble in the first 2 games....lots of work to do but the O will get better and I like what the D did against Poly. Much better than I first thought.

"sorry markson, I did not see your post"...
His "gut" helped us beat the #1 team in FCS. :|

I mean, I know this loss kinda sucks, but I feel like so many Griz fans have just gone off the deep end.

Our season isn't over, boys.

I realize that and it is the old, if it works you are the hero if it doesn't you are the goat. I give him credit but sometimes playing to win is not going for it. Opinions are just that.....and everybody has them. I still like Stitt and what he is bringing to the table and it will get better from here.

Jesus half the topics on this board are started by Atlanta griz and the majority of them are straight up stupid. He's embarrassing our fanbase

Fair enough. And I agree, to an extent, but we also have the benefit of hindsight.

The times he went for it against NDSU seemed stupid at the time, but it helped win the game.

The times he went for it against SLO seemed like a good idea, but not picking a single one up basically cost us a victory.

I'm just sick of a lot of the hyperbole and overreactions by a lot on here. Sorry to jump on you so quickly.

I agree. Just rename this thread Atlanta Griz 1's posting cost Griz the win versus Poly. No way that goes 17 pages.

Another point, John Nguyen shouldn't be fielding punts. He watches to many punts hit the ground. A sure handed returner will run up in traffic and catch a punt.

Punt returning is probably the hardest position to play. If you see a ball that is not catchable why even attempt to try and maybe causing a muff to turn the ball over. He makes the right decisions and the ones he doesn't is for a greater reason.

Why, because you don't watch a punt roll 25ish yards and get downed on the one. John isn't a natural catching punts. I would be shocked if there aren't a handful of players better. If you're scared to catch it, you don't belong back there. Atleast half the balls he's allowed to hit the ground where catchable

Please, I am the rare source of knowledge and reason is a would of fructose. Why don't you try making a good football post, Eriul? Oh, we got it, it would be like a term paper for you.

Stitt took full responsibility on the radio show tonight, saying, and I'm paraphrasing " the defense did their job with the safety and it was our (offense) job to close it out and we didn't get it done. That's on me".

I love a coach who stands up and takes responsibility and doesn't throw players under the bus, unlike a certain poster on this board!

I'm going to change my mind and say that the stupid granite uniforms lost the game just as the Halloween Horrors did a few years ago...

I like this Stitt guy more all the time. He admits he's not perfect but everyday (and probably many nights) I believe the wheels are turning in his head to get there....to perfection that is. Pretty sure he is borderline obsessed, and that's alright by me.

Growles/Atlanta should have stated in his original post this:
The Griz are not yet well oiled. Many mistakes cost us the game.

Truth is it is a first year offense! Time will take care of most mistakes! We still might be a very good team. We need more time and practice to get where we want to be.

I like Gregorak and his coaching. With the line in deep doo doo he did a damn good job. We did find 3 new D-linemen that can play even though they are to small!

If we approach "well oiled" we will smoke our opponents!

I don't give a flying F whether you or other pedestrian fans "believe" me. I hang with real football fans, including former Griz players, who have objectivity. We all know much more about football that you and sugar coating buddies. Have fun living in your dream world. I'll continue to post reality on here, for those who get it.
