No one, including the original poster said the grade was for the head coach. You made that connection. The FB team didn't meet 50% of the goals set by the head coach.

Personal (fan) outlook:
Soccer - A; played well enough to win games in BSC but so many costly injuries. Forwards were looking the other team to make a mistake instead of being aggressive at the goal.
T&F - A; program continuing to raise the bar
Men Tennis - B; high expectations but couldn't recover from the injury bug
Football - A; I understand the criticism of the results of the Cats and does ultimately fall on the head coach. But seriously! The team was a Worthem catch and Schafer injury away from going to the title.
Softball - A; this is a complete rebuild. Mostly an Underclassmen team that showed promise but dropped a number of games they should have won. Year 1 to 2.
MBB - C- maybe; There was a reason Money was the sixth man of the year in 24/25 despite having scouts interested in him. The team got lucky a number of games.
WBB - D+; Im not sure how folks thought the 24/25 sucesss would roll over. I should have known this was a team that wouldn't gel. They did play better when Avery was a focal point
Volleyball - C+; It seemed to take a large step forward. I have always been an Allison fan so I maybe have layered blinders on.
Golf - F; if we are going to bottom out, just give all the scholarships to MT kids
Department - C; record funding, top talent in the region, Kent has and will always be a money guy and doesn't appear to focus on the off-the-field struggles like strength/conditioning and nutrition as the whole athletics are concerned, it seems that internal build up to Cats games needs a refocus

In this version of the FCS, yes. The competition that made it hard to win the national championship back in the day moved to G6. If you can't see that we are left with a bunch of D2 schools in the FCS, then you are not seeing the reality of college football. The Griz should be kickin' @$$.

What you seem to miss is that even the top FCS teams have regressed and the talent level isn't this giant gap. There are still only like 8-10 schools that have a chance, the difference now is those schools are basically in 2 conferences unlike the past. You could argue that this as actually hindered BSC/MVC schools with the belief that a 3rd place team is one of the 6-8 best but doesn't get placed as such during the seeding process because less talented schools from weaker conferences get a boost on W/L record over actual strength of schedule.

But thats not the definition of mediocrity. We are not a poor or below average team. We finished above 97% of the FCS, only losing to one team all year who happened to be the eventual champions. Yes, we certainly fell short of expectations which i guess is where you are confused with labeling us mediocre.
As an outsider, anybody who isn't happy with UM's season last year is nuts, and likely miserable. Y'all went 13-2, and unfortunately for you, those losses came to not only the national champs, but your rivals. Obviously that sours things a bit, but man, that's a good season by anybody's marker. Only one team gets to win it all, but more than one team can have a good season.
To those of you that take this so seriously that you can't enjoy the games, maybe it's best for you to move on to something else. This is all just for entertainment, it's not life and death.

It was objectively a good season. Lots of things went well and I enjoyed a lot of the games. Very true.
Also true that I have not been more upset at the end of a Griz season in I don't know how long.
It fucking sucked.
I get that people want to police a little hyperbole from raw, upset Griz fans, but I don't think it's out of line for some people just being honest about how it made them feel.
"Some of you care too much", yeah cool, I'll square that away with all the cat fans who don't care too much yelling at me to go fuck myself and chanting ESGCGC while I was leaving your stadium lmao
I'm open to hearing this sort of criticism from other Griz fans who were there and experienced it, and who maybe didn't internalize the trauma like I did though haha
Yeah I would bet dollars to donuts that if the positions were exactly reversed, our illustrious friend would not be saying what he's saying.
To be quite honest, you're both right. I wasn't at the game in Bozeman, but it was a heart breaking day and I will never forget where I was sitting (at the T&C, because you know I am one classy fella). On the other hand, the Griz were the 2nd or 3rd best team in the nation and had a hell of a year. The offense was so fun to watch, and seeing the emergence of Ah Yat and Davis alongside the continued greatness of Eli Gillman was truly special.
It was a really strong year, and a big step forward from the 2024 season. It also hurt like hell at the end, and one unfortunate aspect of human nature is that we remember a painful ending more than we do the good times that led up to it. And I say that as someone who isn't even divorced (yet).

Told my wife it was a whole different thing going over the divide to that game. When she really got to experience what the Bobcat fans are like as a whole, she swore she would never again set foot in that $hithole of a stadium or town. She was bewildered by how it encompassed everyone from kids to adults to geriatrics.
That third quarter in the East stands when we took the lead was venomous from them. If not for that 4th and 19, they would have gone from unhinged to psychotic. The amount of adults that could barely stand by the second quarter was only outdone by the amount of fake bobcunts. Like the British a$$hole behind us in his professional racing gear who had never been to an American football game before, but was right there in Quarter 4 doing the ESGGCG chant.
It did suck and it did leave a bad taste, but made me oh so thankful I’m not one of those douchebags.
