I couldn’t agree less with this take. You will see when you get there. The venue and location is perfect and it’s a perfect size for the schools that make it. When the dakotas or Montanas make the game the venue is packed and it’s a great atmosphere. Any other teams and the stadium would be half full. The stadium is perfect for this event.
Frisco is a great host. From everything I’ve heard the city does a great job with the logistics and I’m not surprised. I’ve worked closely with many of the city leaders in Frisco and their EDC. They are world class. There is a reason all of the HQs and PGA and universal studios is moving to Frisco. They do a great job.
The location of DFW north Texas would be hard to beat. It’s centrally located in the country and it’s one of the easiest cities to fly into from where ever you are at in the country. There are direct flights from Missoula Bozeman Billings Bismarck into DFW. Do you think Chattanooga or somewhere like that would be easier to fly to?
The weather is typically good or decent. Usually in the mid 50s-60s. People mention Vegas but the truth is the FCS championship is too small of an event for Vegas to even care about. Frisco cares and they do an amazing job of hosting the teams and fans. Everyone will see that when they get down to Texas and see how easy everything flows and how much stuff there is to do in the area.
The city doesn’t have anything to do with the ticket sales or cost of flights being raised.
Also QB club members were told that our seats would be somewhere in between sections 101-109 so those at least shouldn’t be in the end zones. Yet to see if that’s true or not.
Completely agree with this take on the location. Having flown in and out of Montana for the last ten years with season tickets I can tell you that travel in general out of Montana is expensive ( general supply and demand). With enough time to plan there are options but on short notice (ie. the 3 week after the last playoff before the championship) one of the best places in the country for access is DFW and that includes Vegas. There are plenty of inexpensive options for hotels but most seem to think that staying right in Frisco is a must. As BLGF mentioned Plano., Addison, McKinney, the Colony are all a short Uber away. I went to all the games in Chattanooga and I can tell you first hand ... not easy and not a lot of hotel options...
As far as the stadium goes it's ridiculous to think that having a larger stadium will make for a better experience... just look at some of this weeks bowl games in stadiums that are 25% filled. Toyota Stadium is a great place to watch a game, good size, great site lines, easy parking, plenty of concessions, restrooms and lots of walking around space not to mention a legit SRO area(s) that you can actually see the game. Top this off they have one of the best run facility's in the state with a great staff.
Ticketing is another issue ... NCAA controls that and the schools are forced to do as they say. History says sell as many as you can in the summer to mitigate potential losses, can't always guarantee teams that make the Natty will travel well. Sorry for the QB Club but as I mentioned, no bad seats in this place and if what was mentioned before as to where their ticket allocation is they will be just fine...
No gambling unless you want to drive an hour north to Oklahoma but lots of eating and drinking locations to choose from... plus the weather should be great for game day!
