Frisco contract expires?

A pretty "western centric" position.

Aren't most of the very top teams from the West (and Dakotas)? The top 5 are from MT, Dakotas and Idaho. 6 of top 8. 9 of top 16 from MV and Big Sky conferences. I think only 1 remaining FCS team (Youngstown) has been in the championship game in the last 10 years other than Big Sky and MV (and those were all MV and Big Sky teams in MT and WA.
So you want the NC game to be regional? All four Dakota schools border Minnesota or Iowa, same time zone as Frisco. That is not western. National has a meaning. This is a poor argument.

The only problem in Frisco was the three bar tenders trying to serve thousands of Griz fans at Grizfest. Does anyone know if both school's pep rally events were held outside?

There were probably 16 beer vendors at Griz Fest. Were you there? Are you just repeating talking points from Chattanooga? Perfect venue perfect city.

Actually I was there. Some people waited nearly an hour to get a drink.

You were in the wrong line then, got there early and stayed late and didn't wait more than 5 minutes... and yes we went back more than once...

Never waited more than 5 minutes. Let’s make up things to complain about that didn’t happen

I had no problem getting beer while down on the field behind second base all evening. There was a beer vendor beside first base.

Don’t know how I feel about it maybe being farther away.

Frisco is a much better option than Tampa...travel aside, IMO the game would get lost there...

I know how I would feel about another venue favoring eastern schools.

Not excited about that prospect at all. Florida would be a travesty for the FCS. It’s been in the south and east now for decades. Time to bring it west. Las Vegas Allegiant Stadium or San Diego States new Snapdragon Stadium.

I think the impact of this is greatly lessened with the 3 week time period between semis and finals, however. The GRIZ went to Frisco on Wednesday.

I'm in the "Anywhere but Frisco" camp. I think Tampa would be a great option. I agree with Wolf above that Snapdragon would be a great venue, but the physical location isn't exactly ideal. The Houston MLS stadium would be good. It's too bad the Austin MLS stadium is so far flung from downtown because that would be awesome.

Actually moving forward it looks like there will only be a two week break the next couple of years as this game will be played in the first week of the new year. Most likely January 4th or 5th next year. Should be fun traveling anywhere on New Years. 🙄

Same

From my perspective after having gone to Frisco to watch the championship this year, I thought Frisco did a great job hosting the game. I wouldn't be upset if they continue to host the National Championship over the next 5-7 years.

Well, the other way to look it at is you could BE somewhere for New Years, maybe Austin or San Antonio, and still be able to get to Frisco a few days prior to the game.

Maybe for those with disposable incomes and plenty of time off/retired, but I don’t think that would be feasible for the majority.

I like Las Vegas because it would be ez to get there. Cheep flights n rooms ( most of the time) . It would be a blast going there.. A true championship game vibe. Frisco just seems like an afterthought. Congratulations. I’ll come play in this soccer stadium..I will take But Frisco over going back to the East Coast.

Exactly, Wolf. WARNING: For those with thin skins and fragile egos, read no farther.

I read these posts about extended stays, other entertainment, yada, yada, yada, and just laugh. I'm glad you have the money to throw around doing this, that, and whatever, and you are aghast that the airlines go up 500-600%, not to mention lodging, etc. And you still buy 4+ seats, at scalper prices.
You are absolutely clueless to your average Griz fan living here in 'flyover country.' I speak about those season ticket, and one time attendees holders who scrimp and save and budget to be able to come to Missoula to attend even ONE game a year.
If your concerns are the ease of getting a beer at your over-priced remote location, which cost several thousands of dollars for you to plop you fat ass in, then you are entitled, spoiled, narcissistic assh*les gloating about your extravagant, decadent forays. You are more concerned with what yuppie bars/restaurants to attend, so to be seen(scene?)and be seen there.
I tried to be all inclusive here, so if I left off some things or someone, I apologize. I'm sure you all earned your wealth and can do what you want to do with it, but to tout it on this site is over the top. Perhaps confine your braggaocious
statements to eGriz Club. Flame away! :fuel:

It’s no more apparent than in the playoffs. I know there is sometimes Thanksgiving weekend or hunting season are conflicts, but there is no reason we should have 19,000 season ticket holders and then only get 13-16000 fans for an early playoff game if we aren’t a top 2 seed. To me playoffs are the payoff of going to a season of games. And the tickets aren’t expensive to the game at $35 a pop, but one more weekend of travel across the state and paying Missoula hotel prices is more than most can bite off after BUDGETING for 6 or 7 games. I have people around me in my section that drive from Billings, Helena, Great Falls, and Plentywood!

I’m fortunate in that I live in Missoula, but I make less money, pay more in taxes, and paid more for a house so that I can drive 10 minutes to the games. This third party that the university hired to maximize profits of ticket sales could have as easily been a different company that works on analytics for a customer base and finding the factors that could pay off long term to work beneficially for fans and the university, not just pure profits. I think basketball attendance is going to take an even bigger hit with separate GSA fees. Need to look at the big picture. We have an aging fan base and if we price the younger generations out, we likely will see declines long term. They say they made more entry level season tickets, but doesn’t seem like that mattered for basketball attendance this season and there are more GSA sections and fees in WaGriz than ever for football. Now with the pressures for NIL, I see a lot of people saying enough. I’ll watch the games on TV and donate less money to NIL than what I was in GSA fees.
