How is the trajectory that very good? His record after 3 years is sub 500. 500 in conference. He barely got in the playoffs last year. Overall his teams talent has underperformed except for the defense of which they just let the coach go. He’s raw for someone who has been in coaching for almost 15 years. Is recruiting is inconsistent albeit sometimes great but sometimes poor. For instance the level of expectations are so much higher at other schools. You think Ewu would be okay if Best was 500 after 3 years? What about Stitt? He got ran for being 21-14. I guess you can say Choates teams get up when they have too for bigger games(Cat-Griz) but people talk like choate is a star coach and he’s not.

You guys don't pay attention to what's going on. The Cats have gotten better every year since Choate arrived, and that trend will continue. We'll make the playoffs again in 2019, and will advance to at least the third round. Not sure if we'll make it to the title game, depends on how much better our passing game is. We all know it will be better, but how much better is the big question mark right now.
I paid attention to NDSU 52; MSU 10. And would have been far worse had they not called off the dogs. Pretty difficult to extrapolate from that to what you claim.

And that's the main reason TG got fired. Sure his defenses were good enough to beat the griz and most other teams in the Big Sky but that's not good enough for what Choate it building towards.

Well then why would he bring an inexperienced coach in as DC. KI will probably be a good DC at some point. Now? Not sure I would consider him an upgrade. Nothing against him and he was a very good player. Just don’t think he is ready. Tough to have co- coaches or coordinators also. The TG dismissal was not a good thing, but it will decrease the real housewives of Bozeman problem. Hauck and his staff have none of that going on. Lots of stability on his staff.

I think you could say that about 90% of fcs teams, with the possible exception of ndsu, sdsu, and ewu losing their best/important player for the year they are screwed.
Where do you think Montana would end up if Sneed goes down early, here's a hint it wouldn't be pretty. Not a knock, just reality.

Here’s a reality for you - Cam Humphrey can sling it. Nobody wants to see Sneed go down, but with a offensive line - perhaps, and a not-QB heavy running game, I don’t think you’d see much of a drop off in passing & QB play.

You guys will find out soon enough, Choate does things for a reason. Every coaching move he makes is well thought out, and he knows what he's doing. Trust me.

TG was let go because we needed to get better on defense, period. After the NDSU game Choate set things in motion to execute his plan. "Never again."

Griz have 3 other QB's on the roster who can throw the ball better than anyone on the cats. If the line improves as we now suspect and the RB's too, the heat is off the QB and defenses will have to respect both pass and run. Our receivers can get open and help any of these guys out while they get their sea legs.

As for the cats, none of the inaccurate qb's can run like TA or Murray. They can't carry the team. You will see TA back as starting QB by 4th game and if he goes down, so does the ship.
Cam Humphrey is the only other one who saw any kind of action and that was limited at best. I think he showed enough to be a little optimistic if Sneed goes down for a short amount of time.
As far as anybody else it's pure speculation on anybody's part, don't tell me they lit it up in practice. We all know there is night and day difference between practice and game day and seeing live action.

Wow poorgriz. I know you like to ruffle feathers and give people some crap. Usually pretty reasonable and usually pretty critical of people making lofty predictions. Even if you think you guys will be better than everyone else thinks, you really want to make guarantees of this caliber? Kind of cheapens the accomplishment of making it to “at least” the third round.

I don't really think that's an unreasonable prediction, but we'll see how things play out. Begin the season with a fairly high national ranking. Favorable schedule, I think the 2019 Cats should be able to get to 8 or 9 wins. 9 wins almost guarantees a first round bye, 2nd round home game which we'll probably be favored, which gets the Cats to the 3rd round. It's not like I predicted we're winning the National Title.

I dont think it is unreasonable that it could be done, but that is different than saying it is a foregone conclusion.

Good grief we took an original post of a kid who transferred out of Washington who Montana had interest in to msu winning the conference and going to the semi-finals. Talking about injuries to players causing a mid-season breakdown and poor excuse pumping his chest like an under sexed rooster. Please stop the madness :stfu:

Good grief. One winning season under Choat and poorgriz proclaims MSU is ready to go to the semi finals? Ridiculous! Look, MSU improved last year, but they still just barely squeaked by a middling Montana team. And without that last timeout taken you lose that game. 2019 is a new season and anything is possible, but a semi final run is really pushing it, especially since MSU has no proven QB.

Can everyone stop saying “we would have won if” you don’t here these excuses from any players or Coach Hauck

My prediction was a first round bye, and a second round home playoff game that we win, that's it.

At least to the third round** not sure if we’ll make the title game or not*** it’s not what you say...it’s how you say it. This is all pretty big talk for a team picked 5th in the conference from the coaches

8 or 9 wins regular season, make it to the quarters. That's my prediction. I'd still be making that prediction if the coaches had picked us 13th. I pay attention to the program, the players, the culture, the attitudes, and the timeline that Choate has defined.

So did I take a wrong turn somewhere? Or is this NOT the thread about a possible transfer that the coaches might want?

Almost every thread now turns into a Cat thread fueled by whiney little twits with Cat envy.

Back to Patu...

Coming out of Seattle's O'Dea High School, Patu was named by both the Seattle Times and the Associated Press as the player of the year in the state and he made it onto the Tacoma News Tribune's All-State team as well after he rushed for 2,181 yards and 28 touchdowns on just 245 carries while leading the Irish to the 3A State Championship.

Patu is a bruising tailback with outstanding vision, but he did not receive a lot of recruiting interest after his senior season, so when the opportunity to play for the Huskies as a walk-on came up, he jumped at the chance.

"It's the place I always wanted to be and where I dreamed of playing ball," Patu said after signing with the Huskies. "I know I will need to come in and work, but I really like the staff and feel like their offense is a good fit for me and what I can do."

We've seen enough to expect that he does not go down. Tough as they come.

Yeah, and apparently spend their weekends (during summer in MT!), posting on football message boards. Impressive
