The same Montana Tech that many on this board don’t want to play. Of course, they are from a lesser division, but one game per year won’t jeopardize our play off chances.
Scheduling is tough, so there will likely be future games on said schedule that aren't to everyone's liking. The first reality is that Kent needs to sell tickets, you can't have an open weekend for lack of a team to play at home because the loss of revenues would be catastrophic for the program. I can't blame him for finding a team to fill the hole in the schedule because we can't entice a team from our own conference, or more than one team from east of the Mississippi to show up. That would likely require a home and home, which means less revenue overall.
That said, making the playoffs is the primary concern. Not just the tournament, but a seeded spot, preferably in the first four, which likely means running the table on your season, unless you lost by four points to the number one team in the division. A D2 win on a perfect season, all things being equal, might not get you that when the committee sits down at Thanksgiving. Kent also knows this. He has met the requirement for his first and most pressing concern. And likely done a bang up job of promoting something that would have been a snooze fest without the uniforms and hype. If he can get them, those non-cons need to be against FBS, FCS and then all others in that order, drawing the line at D2. I'd hate to "make the tournament" for the umpteenth year, only to be sent over to the Dakotas for a spanking, which has occurred, every, single time. But then again, just making it to the field, is good enough for some. I don't count myself among those folks.
