Some rough numbers:
Bleacher rental, according to this website (
http://activities.costhelper.com/bleacher.html) costs about 2 to 9 dollars per seat. Let's say it's $10. 3,000 x 10 = 30,000.
The portable toilet status quo at EWU is notoriously maybe 1 closet per 1,000 fans. According to this website (
http://www.costowl.com/rental/rental-portable-toilets.html), one costs 75 to 150 dollars to rent. Let's say it's $200. 3 x 200 = 600.
3,000 x 45 = 135,000. 135,000 - 30,000 - 600 =
104,400. Even if the NCAA takes a whopping 75% of this additional profit (which I somehow doubt), that leaves EWU with an extra $26,000. You can buy a lot of eye black and tats with $26,000.
Let's say that each of the 3,000 spends an average of $5 on concessions. That's $15,000 in additional revenue for EWU.
Let's say that each of the 3,000 spends an average of $15 on a food before or after the game. That's $45,000 in revenue for local businesses.
It boils down to whether you want a bigger crowd or not. Wanting a smaller crowd because you are afraid that the additional fans will be Griz fans is not looking at the big picture, at all.
