EWU AD...no extra seats .....smh

It is a NCAA sponsored event, so I understand if EWU does not want to foot the bill so the NCAA can reap the benefit. I can also understand them wanting to minimize the number of Griz fans, that is a benefit of being seeded. Seriously, people just need to quit getting all whiny about every dang thing.

The split between the ncaa and the home team is done after expenses, so EWU would not foot the bill for any of the cost of providing more seats or security. EWU would just have to cover their prior minimum bid, which is quite low for seeded team and thus easily achievable. EWU would end up making a decent amount of extra money with the extra seating. The AD just didn't want to accommodate more UM fans. EWU's choice, but bush league, in my view.

PR doesn't the ncaa take, after expenses either the minimum bid or a percentage of the revenue, whichever is higher?

Yes, that's my understanding. I think the minimum bid for this round is only $30,000. That's what it was a year or so ago.

This will come back to haunt EWU. I mean, the extra revenue the EWU program could have made from this game is about the only conciliatory thing they were going to walk away with on Saturday....

The NCAA takes the majority of playoff game revenue, although I do agree with most on here that the ewu seating decision was based on keeping Griz fans out and not about finances

Exactly. The bush league thing is he didn't just say 'we wanted minimize Griz fans at the game'.

If he would actually come out and say that I would appreciate him having the balls to say it, rather than "oh we didn't know about how the playoffs would go even though Montana was 278 point favorites and stuff"...yeah that fooled a lot of people.

Exactly. It's like not having a scoreboard because "we didn't anticipate the teams would score." If the EWU AD isn't lying, I think the lack of planning could mandate a visit from The Bobs.

A seeded team only has to bid the minimum, but since bids are submitted weeks prior to the seeding and brackets most bid more. How many teams that hosted in week 1 or will host in week 2 do you believe submitted a minimum host bid with games left to play?

Also, Montana doesn't regularly add seats for games and then decide not to do it because "we didn't know a 278 point favorite might win their first round game." If Montana did do that, I would hope that the AD would have sack enough to admit why.
