Eastern Washington Eagles Scouting Report

well, they say that but when was the last time UM won on that field?
They haven't of course, but hardly because of the color of the turf. And a BH coached team has yet to play on it.
Well, that's encouraging but I still hope it snows heavily or rains like hell.

All I got out of this thread is, “Please God, let those bastard Grizzlies lose in Cheney. Whatever it takes, just have them lose the game. I hate them. They beat up on us so many years I can’t count them all. We finally got a break with Pflugrad being fired and the dumpster fire that ensued. Now that bastard Hauck is back. He seems to finally have his guys and we are really nervous. Please, please make the Grizzlies lose. It is painful when they are so good. Waaah, waaaah, waaah.” Every flipping Scat fan posting on big brothers fan site.

I stand by the EWU has a better offense than UW has displayed and am pretty confident that they will score 2.5-3 times or more the points than UDub. UDub may have a few guys that could be first round choices, but as a unit, they have been poor, which I think could probably mean there is a good chance they won't be first round choices. I also have not said that Montana hasn't played anyone nor that the Griz couldn't or shouldn't win. I just don't think some of these 42-17 predictions are very realistic.

You're 100% correct. Maybe somebody can post more quotes on here of a UW reporting writing about how good the UW offense should be. Go ahead and believe that all ya want! I've seen both teams play, multiple times this year and I've seen it with my own eyes. EWU has a better offense than UW. Don't bother posting about level of competition, don't care. If the griz hold the Eags to 10 points or less, I'll eat the crow.

Well if you’ve seen it with your own eyes….

Last 5 games, Griz have scored 59, 48, 13, 42 and 39. Their D has given up 3, 7, 7, 7, 7. These include 3 FCS, 1 FBS and 1 D-II. Griz are 5-0.
Last 5 games Eagles have scored 20, 35 (20 in regulation), 63, 62 and 50. Their D has given up 42, 33, 14, 56, 21. These include 3FCS, 1 FBS and 1 D-II. EWU is 4-1 in those games.
I'm including ALL points as scored against the defense, and all points scored as "offensive" scores, even though we know that's not exactly true, but is representative of defensive and special teams capabilities (plus I'm too lazy to go sifting through each box score to see what the offense actually did).

There are two common opponents...CWU and WIU. Both are 2-0 against those opponents. Griz beat CWU 59-3 in the spring, EWU beat them 63-14 this fall. Griz beat WIU 42-7 while EWU won in a shootout 62-56.

Griz "offense" has averaged 40.2 PPG, while EWU has averaged 46 (43 in regulation). UM D gives up an average of 6.2 PPG, while EWU's gives up 33.2 PPG.

The delta between the Griz/EWU offenses is much, MUCH smaller than the delta between the defensive performances. Take that for what it's worth, but I like our chances.

EWU BEAT Cal Poly 62-10 on March 20, 2020, another common opponent if your going to use Central Washington from your Spring Scrimmage game also, Griz beat CPU 42-7, just saying. Just use all the games then, lol!

I’ve read this post at least half a dozen times and I’ve yet to determine if it can be attributed to a few too many brown liquors after a long week, or simply an ewooo education.

My apologies. I only went back as far as ESPN had it on their opening screen…

Anyone not expecting a tough battle is probably thinking with their heart, not their head.

But to suggest that Montana hasn't played anyone, or that ewooo's offense is better than the Huskies, which has 3 first round draft choices on the offense line alone, well, that takes the conversation to a poorgriz level of idiocy.

Well, I think we answered the mail on this question…and the offense didn’t play particularly well by any stretch of the imagination. Montana’s defense did a great job at pressure and limiting the big play. The real difference in the game was Barriere stepping up and making a few plays when it mattered. Two years ago he couldn’t handle the pressure but tonight he showed some real maturity and didn’t get rattled.

If these teams meet again in the playoffs I think it’s a much different game. Offense has to get their shot together but I think the Griz will roll on them in the playoffs. Let’s see what f we can make it happen.

We’ve heard that one before. :D

In all seriousness, who knows, you could be right. I think both teams might be better prepared for that sort of matchup though. In the end it was a great game. I don’t see many teams (if any) beating Montana the rest of conference play.

I have no concerns whatsoever about this game. I think the Griz win handily, and the “Inferno” becomes just another stadium with a wrong-colored turf.

Moron!!!!! EWU was the better team and you are a homer who has no clue!!

Bobby will want to make this a statement game. He's been sitting back and politely answering questions all prim and proper for the past 18 months. Time for the real Bobby to jump out, just like the kool-aid man thru the wall during the Saturday morning cartoons.

Griz 57
EWU 17

EWOOO has been the and still is the top team in the Big Sky. Thats whats changed since Bobby left Montana. They proved that tonight. Maybe Bobby should be a little humble and give some credit and acknowledge that the Griz are still a work in progress rather than be so smug and arrogant.

You won at home in the final seconds. I'd say it was a tossup.

Some of those were shared. Regardless, they haven’t done a ton in the playoffs.
