Decuire rumor

I'm sure Shannon is pointing out to her lawyers all the "defections" on the Men's team: "See, Travis loses all these guys, yet I was fired for the same thing!"

The Griz were, by far, the youngest team in the top 4 or 5 competitive Big Sky teams. MSU especially is senior-laden. The Griz are set-up for the future better than any Big-sky team, although the free-for-all transfer window could change that, but I fully believe the Griz will be a top 2 BSC team the next 3 years if Bannon/Whitney/Beasley all stay. We just need a legit "big", which is something that has alluded Travis.

Griz were essentially the same team THIS year as last year and despite being older and more mature they took a giant step backwards, performance-wise, confidence-wise and leadership-wise.

Not sure how that gets "solved" magically by them getting ANOTHER year older with the same basic core of players.

I think the premise of the argument is , yes, your right but then don't let them go so quickly.

Hmmm….yet here MSU sits….rolled through the tourney and going to the dance.

How’s that, again?

Yet here they are, in the dance, while we are buried in 5th and a 1-done in the conference tourney. Apparently they’re able to recruit at some level higher than the Griz currently.

Despite all the doom and gloom on this site, I look forward to next season. Bannan, Beasley and Whitney will have their names all over the Griz career stat sheets by the time they graduate. I also think Parker and Owens departing will allow DeCuire to bring in some impact players to fill obvious gaps in the roster. I hope Vazquez stays and hits the weights hard. He can be a major contributor if he gains confidence.

Go Griz!
If next years team will be essentially this years team (year older though) how do you reckon it will end differently.

What, will TD return the confidence that he took from Josh.

Classic film, almost has me believing, almost.

The Cats lose 3 players off of their championship team, but return Belo, Battle, Gazelas, Patterson, Osobor. If Coach Sprinkle is back, they will easily be the preseason number 1 team in the conference.

Belo was a junior last season and is still a junior this season? Assuming the Covid year is letting him stick around for one more? Feel like he’s been around forever.

I'd be surprised if Sprinkle left. I think his name is going to be connected with a lot of openings in the west (including Cal State Northridge) but I don't think he leaves for anything that isn't a Power 5 job. I don't know what his level of devotion to staying in Bozeman is, but I don't think he leaves unless it is the perfect opportunity.

As for next year, I think MSU would be the presumptive favorite provided they don't lose guys to the portal looking for more exposure. I really think Belo is about the only guy that would receive that type of boost, sort of the way the Groves brothers left last year.

But with the portal being the way it is, it makes it possible that teams can immediately retool. I think MSU, UNC, UM, WSU and maybe SS or PSU might have pretty potent squads next year. If all things remain the same, it makes all the sense to proclaim MSU as the presumptive favorite.

I wouldn’t say the cats will easily be the preseason favorites. They probably will be the favorites, but the losses of Bishop, Adamu and Mohamed will be felt. The guys they got returning next season have the potential to do some damage, but do they have a raw point guard who can take over the reins from Bishop? Maybe that’s Battle, maybe not.

Where is Travis in his current contract?

I think, it expires in June. I have a feeling, he's going to step away to see if he can recharge the juices. I won't be surprised if, Cobb is interim coach. DeCuire didn't seem to be himself the past year. Something isn't right. Just my opinion.

There are a number of rumors, all of which are unsubstantiated at this point, that point to this. I don't like to peddle them, but I have heard similar rumors. I hope it isnt the case, because I do believe that Travis is an excellent ambassador for the University and steward of the program. But he looked drained all year and completely sapped of energy. For what its worth probably isn't the best thing when you are trying to manage a mid-major division 1 basketball team.

That's pretty much why I think he needs a break. 1 can tell, he's not completely himself. We seem to forget, they also deal with every day things. I'm not sure, if he's dealing with more than just his job. If I knew, I'd support him as a friend. No need to bring personal things here, unless he makes things public knowledge.

I too believe, DeCuire is a terrific ambassador for the school. Wish I knew him better though. Then again, I was fortunate to know Tinkle the person and coach. Travis is more private.

It's not hard for the Dakota schools and Wyoming? I'm not buying that.
