Covered practice facility

I never said you had to start a Facebook page. I said there’s lots of Griz fan pages out there that people follow on Facebook. If you pitch your idea to one of the fan pages, you’ll probably get feedback from lots of other fans as well.

It was a long shot to begin with but I thought we would have had better participation in our/my goal to get 60 people to commit less than a $1.00 a day to go towards the funding of an indoor practice facility for football. I realize if we were to get even 500 fans it would be a token effort. If nothing else it would have demonstrated to the “deep pockets” our commitment and serious intent for an indoor practice facility.
To those of you who did commit I encourage all of you to fulfill your commitment by sending your check to GSA with a notation that it’s for the new facility.
And thank you for all of your input on our failed endeavor.

I have been contributing to Facilities Upgrades for quite some time. I have pledged an annual amount over 5 years. UM Foundation sends me a reminder each year. I just paid for the 4th year of my second 5-year pledge. Contact Dan Ingram of GSA if you would be interested in such a commitment.

Maroon and silver, I was just attempting to get more people involved in the whole process. Bit it seemed for naught. Personally since I returned to Missoula 20 years ago I’ve committed annually to both academics and sports and will continue to do so.
If you look at our base, the older generations, we are rapidly becoming extinct. Even minimal contributions from the graduates from the 90’s on would likely bear fruit in the years ahead.

George Ferguson made several accurate points. The MSU indoor facility will be designed for many sports and fully compliant with Title IX.

The Phase I fundraising went very well, and efforts have already begun on Phase II. The original 2017 plan called for $16MM, but the development effort exceeded that number in short order, and instead of calling it a day and starting Phase II, the AD decided to make Phase I even better on the order of $18.2MM. The Academic Center will be improved from the original plan and a few other upgrades (like CDA's favorite: hydro therapy).

Here are a few highlights of the MSU indoor facility plan:

* 150,000 to 160,000 square feet
* 300-meter track for indoor training and NCAA competition
* 8 lanes with 8 lane straight-a-way
* 100-yard synthetic field for all field sports
* seating for up to 1,000 spectators
* locker rooms, concessions, restrooms and amenities to support events
* 45’-0” clear below structure at perimeter, 65’-0” clear at center
* Press Box and Camera Positions

Can you clarify, or repeat, how much MSU has raised or received commitments for? Thx.
Announcement coming at Homecoming. You can wait.
