I guess I understand the peeper ponds given that your HC runs that MILF camp, but what does the bold mean? Do you mean windows? Or are they building a moat?

I think that is the height on the sides and down the center.

Ah, got it. So, it's like a gazebo. I wonder why they don't just use that rodeo dome they built in the 1960s. Seems like they could practice football in there during the winter . . .
 
UPDATE, UPDATE*******
As of 4:14 on Monday, 9/30 we are up to 22 commits and counting. We’re almost to the half way point..... A buck a day to help build an indoor practice facility for our Griz football team. That’s one one less giant Coke a day. Besides, that shit will kill you!

Here’s something that nobody’s thought of. Why not take the NDSU approach on this? Get a temporary bubble to use as an indoor practice facility, until you can raise the money for the actual one that has all the bells and whistles. Take a look at the bubble msu just put up to replace their rec center that collapsed last year. That would work for now until the actual one comes into fruition.

I was thinking along these same lines for temporary. I however see value to practicing in poor weather conditions. Other than MVFC schools and the BSC, not many other FCS programs play in domes I don’t believe.

I think a cover with open sides would be ideal. Still subject to the cold and wind blow.
 
An indoor practice facility is vital for recruiting and cold weather training/practice as FBS programs have them as well as top FCS programs like SDSU and Weber. We simply have to plan for this especially since State has one in their 20 year plan. As mentioned before, this is the next priority after the men’s basketball locker room/mini champions center gets finished for next year. Full cost of attendance stipends like the Dakota schools have is another issue that has to be addressed down the road by fundraising in order to stay competitive.

In order to remain at the top of the Big Sky. 60 x 300 is $18,000.00 and if we can get to that magic number I promise I will do my best to get the athletic Dept. and GSA to take this fund raising event on. Check out the indoor practice facility at FCS Bryant University in Rhode Island. The school has just under 4,000 students but their facilities are first class. They also have a new state of the art athletic center. The indoor practice facility is bigger than what the NE Patriots, Boston College and Harvard have.

Disappointing but I shouldn’t be surprised with the mediocre response from egriz fans. They tend to talk big but shrink from accepting responsibility when asked to contribute to building a facility that would only help make our Griz football program once again a national title contender.
One poster suggested that we don’t need a damn domed practice facility because it would take away the toughness and comradely that develops from playing in freezing, snowy and wind swept conditions. To that I say poppycock. To me that shows a lack of commitment from the institution and the fans to put the best product on the field. But what do I know, I never played the game to any degree of success.
But I digress, my disappointment in our fan base to step up and contribute to the future success of our football is tempered by the fact that we have Travis DeCuire and the men’s basketball program ready to play on the national stage. GO GRIZ
Only 26 participants in our fund a covered practice facility. Unfortunately our little ground swell turned into a crater. But there’s still 26 hours to go.

Out....until the University can fix the larger problem with enrollment. At the current rate, we will end up as a liberal arts college with 3k enrollment, but with a 14mm dome. That doesn't make sense.

Fix the bigger problems and a dome will become a little problem and easy to fund.
 
Iowa Griz, your Post hardly warrants a reply but it’s a slow afternoon so I’ll take the bait. The only correlation between enrollment numbers and building a covered practice field (CPF) is the student athletic fees, which are not part of the equation to begin with, as the CPF is funded through private donations. Furthermore if we’re to wait for enrollment numbers to get back to the mid teens we could be playing in the Frontier Conference, God forbid. We’re not likely to see those numbers for at least 5 to 10 years. It’s a proven fact that there is a correlation between success athletically and increases in enrollment. Just the print and TV exposure alone generates student interest that otherwise is unavailable to the university. Proof of fact is that as I have traveled around the country wearing a Griz hat or shirt I never fail to get “go Griz” from people in airports or on the streets. I’ve even gotten high fives in Europe.
So in conclusion, well is there really any reason to belabor the subject?

If you wanna get more people, why not reach out to one of the Griz fan pages on Facebook? There’s lots of people that follow those pages that aren’t on EGriz. You’d get tons of support.

I can understand how many posters would not sign onto this effort, and I have no problem with that, but I do agree with you that egriz has a lot of posters who won't put their money (or anything else) where their mouth is, including some who talk like they are fans entitled to high performance by the Griz and their coaches.

I suppose this would be largely symbolic. I also know that the athletic department doesn't get excited about little contribution that can take up more time to administer than they are worth. Not saying that this would be one of them.
 
I agree that this would be symbolic in some respects, but would show that there is beginning to be a groundswell of support for this facility. This, in addition to the resurgence of the program would tell a better story to the large donors who will be needed to get this process in motion. The basketball upgrade is paid for so this is the next fundraising item on the agenda.
 
PlayerRep and RXGriz, your input is appreciated and taken to heart. I realize the AD and GSA May both feel this is small potatoes in the big picture. However I would like to make this effort as seamless and painless for all parties as possible. Input from all quarters is important. So far I have 30 email addresses that have pledged support. Wouldn’t it be simple enough to create a cover letter explaining the program with a pledge sheet attached which would list the options for contributions i.e. #1. Automatic bank withdrawal. #2. Annual Pledge. #3. Semi-Annual Pledge etc, etc, etc. I’m sure there are more options that could be offered but this is just an example. The simpler the process the more people people would become engaged.
My whole effort is to simply get the dialogue started. Hopefully from there other people will have creative ideas as to how we make this work.
I like the idea of starting a Facebook page. Unfortunately my limited knowledge as to how to do that requires others to take on that task. This cannot be the effort of one individual but a collaborative of many.
