I don't know anything about Counts, I'll admit that EWU would have had trouble with Van, he's the type of back we always seem to struggle with.

What kind of back is Counts, between the tackles?

Last year the Griz killed us with the spread option (as did SHSU this and last year) it seems like the Griz don't run the spread option as much with JJ? I think with the success you had last year running the spread that we may see some of it on Saturday.
No! The spread does not work...

It does against us, I'll be more than happy if I don't see the Griz run it...

so far this year we have run..shotgun, under center, pistol and spread option.....that I have seen......

Poorgriz. MD said that Joey would get, "a whole lot of reps," vs EWU in this weeks press conference.

I love how Delaney advertises his intentions. I wonder if he mailed the EWU coaches a laminated printout of the game plan too.

Don't be dumb. Not like this is rocket science or state secrets. Obviously counts is going to get reps. I could care less if they give them the game plan. I would say here it is. Stop it.

Good point. But I thought it was obvious Counts would get reps vs poly and that didn't happen. Doesn't hurt to keep 'em guessing.

Maybe isn't really planning to let Counts carry the ball much at all this weekend. Boy, that would be like a reverse surprise then and we are SURE to win. *rolls eyes*

Counts - 10 carries 25 yards. Canada - 100+ yards 2 td. Johnny boy - 10 carries 35 yards.

No way we rush for less than 200 yards against Eastern's D. If we do, we lose.

Counts' nickname as a recruit was mini-Moore, he's an in-between the tackles kind of runner, seeks out contact, but is faster than Moore (also not as big, but close).

Griz have run some zone-read and pistol but not a lot, a bunch of under center and some shotgun.

I'd like to see our manamal fullback run it a few times. He seems to have good hands.

I think that is an excellent suggestion. Perhaps we've been keeping him a secret and this is the game the 'wraps come off'.

60 rushing yards + 30 receiving yards, 1 TD

This is a much more reasonable prediction and numbers Griz fans should come away very happy with. With TraVon Van out of the lineup it will only increase Jordan Canada's workload and if we are going to win we will need a great game from JC. If Counts gets 20+ carries that means Canada (our feature back) is hurt or totally ineffective....

.....or maybe Counts goes over 20 carries because we are blowing EWU out :thumb:

...or maybe he picks up 50-70 yards on one play. :thumb:

5 or less carries, 12 yards
Everyone loves an optimist! :?
Really? I think he was being a realist
I hope i'm wrong; I hope JC has a career day. That would mean we are stomping the shite outta them. But I just don't see that happening. To run on Ewho, we need misdirections, cutbacks, read options, Travon's jukes, (i.e., things we typically don't do or won't have available to us). They're too disciplined to be run over with JC's power IMHO. that's why i think we need JJ to run a bunch. With their secondary, they'd just stack the box vs. JC.

If last year's game is any indication, their front 7 is fairly soft and easy to push around. Exactly the kind of thing a runner like Counts can take advantage of, IMO.

My bad, did not realize we were using last season as a basis for the prediction...I think Dan will have a huge day.

Well, have you seen anything to indicate they've improved significantly against the run since then? Because I really haven't.

The point isn't that they "improved" on their run D, its that our O scheme changed and may not match up as good as last year.

If the Griz think they are going to pound it up the middle, this game will be a runaway. Our defense will stuff it. Your offense is totally different this year and plays into EWU's defensive strengths. We struggle with the misdirection, pistol, spread option type schemes, something the Griz have gone away from this year...

Look at our two losses, both Toledo and Sam Houston run similar offenses to the Griz last year and we struggled with it. If your coach is smart, he will implement some misdirection and options plays and allow JJ to run more, the Griz can hurt us there.
