After reading the article I find it interesting that Colter has us losing 3 straight in Novemeber without remotely addressing the hideous defenses isu, ewu, and msu have displayed recently. A healthy Griz defense and a maturing Montana offense surely could win football games. I find the article to be shallow at best with some bias sporting a marketing theme to kick off the season. No substance just opinion....that's just my opInion.
 
I thought egriz was about, to a greater or lesser degree, the mocking of others? If not, I've been logging onto the wrong fan board since 2009! I'm all about the mocking...

I'm not surprised that our sucrose-laden kat friends ate up Couture's pre-season piece. More surprising is that they seem to have expected Griz fans to accept Noone'z prognostication and give up hope.

"If Nooners says we're gonna be 6-5, well, might as well sell my season tickets...maybe next year!" :P :P :P
 
GAME OF THE WEEK: Montana at Montana State — Some of the biggest Griz fans outside the Treasure State might reside in Cedar City, Cheney and San Luis Obispo this week. A Montana win could help the Grizzlies make a case for the playoffs while also helping boost the resumes of Southern Utah and Cal Poly. A Griz win could also help Eastern Washington claim the league title outright if the Eagles take care of business against downtrodden Portland State.

But none of that will matter as the Bobcats will finally take care of Montana at home. Montana State has won just three times — 1985, 2003, 2005 — on its home field against its rival over the last 30 years. The Griz will be as good as anyone in the league in the back seven of their defense, but a depleted, undersized defensive line will be no match for an MSU offensive front that returns all five starters, including All-America candidates J.P. Flynn and John Weidenaar. Many question marks surround the MSU defense but at the end of the day, this is a quarterback league and Montana State has one of the gems in the entire FCS in Prukop. The last time the two teams faced off with such a slanted advantage under center, DeNarius McGhee led MSU past Shay Smithwick-Hann and UM in Missoula in 2012. The only difference this time around is it won’t be a one-score game. The Bobcats should dispose of the Griz and ensure Stitt’s first season ends outside the playoff picture while building steam and entering the playoffs with momentum for the first time in the Rob Ash era.

I kinda like Caleb Kidder and Tyrone Holmes. That "All returning OL" had trouble with only one of them last year.
 
The great offensive line led the Cats to exactly 0 points against UM until 6 minutes left in the 4th quarter when the score was 34-0. I'm not exactly buying the Nunaz logic.
 
Div I football is really a game of attrition. The bobcats have a great team but they are an injury away from a mediocre season. As someone pointed out the griz may not start off the season well but they will almost certainly finish strong. Stitt is a quick learner and I predict something like 7-4. I also predict about that from the cats. Prukopp is great when he is running the ball but they are not going to let him do that this year. Also I am going to predict that the bobcat defense is going to be good and their offense will be good as well but they will not live up to the hype. The bobcat offense will not be as good as it was last year.

Good post. I think the Cats will go 9-2 or 8-3 though, but they have a very soft schedule which will distort their offensive stats and record. If the Griz defense is as good as I think it will be and the offense consistently improves throughout the season then look out. 7-4 could get us in the playoffs because of a brutal schedule. My Griz prediction is 8-3. I would be shocked if we went 6-5 with our defense. I much prefer playing a tougher schedule versus padding the win column with cake walks. Looking at records only says so much unless you're playing all common opponents.
 
I do believe the Cats will be a better team this year than last year, providing Prukop stays healthy. Their offense proved to be damn good last season. Should be about the same this season. Then again, I am believer in Prukop being the real deal. Their defense was terrible last season. Their defense cannot be worse, can it? Despite my liking of Prukop and believe their defense will be better, I think 8-3 or 7-4 is more realistic.

As for the GRIZ, so many unknowns with a new coach, offense, inconsistent OL, and key player losses, I feel 9-2, maybe 8-3 is realistic. I'd be shocked if the GRIZ are not better than last season. It all depends on our OL and how quickly the players adjust to a new offense.

you have 8 or 9 games where the opponent will be favored or it will be a pick em, IMO. I'll be very impressed if you go 8-3.

UH, that "great team" lost their game with Montana badly and South Dakota State as I recall. Great is being thrown around a lot, but MSU is not great. NDSU might be great. With their soft schedule they should look like a winning team, but not great.
 
Last year Prekupp and his running caught teams by surprise early. As the season wore on, DCs adjusted and defenses started beating him like a rented mule. As bad as D-II and most BCS defenses are, the Cats will not be as prolific offensively, and their defense is still suspect. Unlike the Griz, they are one injury away from disaster. As for the Griz, Stitt's offense, beginning with the QB at the line each play, adjusts on the fly. If Brady gets it like Stitt seems to think, they could be dominant out of the box. If so, Ty can let the defense loose. After 3 years of underperforming I see these players playing, as a team, better than last year in all phases.

I'm happily on the rails and cruzin', thank you very much. But then I'm not the one posting on a rivals message board about the response on a rivals message board about an article involving the rival posted on what should be the only board I visit.

We're just saying that Colter is a huge sell out who wrote a bullshit column in order to try to get more subscribers and gave up his objectivity to do so. More power to him if it works. But you're a sucker if you buy it.
