I for one am perfectly fine with that. Always guaranteed a winning season under Ash. We win the Big Sky more often than not which is pretty impressive in a 13 team conference. We usually make the playoffs, have made some noise... but fallen short of the overall goal obviously. Yes there have been many factors that have come into play that have prevented us from getting to the chipper, but Ash doesn't make excuses. I think he'll get us there but of course I'm just a fan! I think it's funny how some of you are butthurt over Colter's predictions. You do know that if he has any bias... it's towards being a griz fan right? For the record - he's been pretty damn good with his predictions. My guess is that he's probably slightly off with these. I have the griz going 7-4, bubble team.
Are they the same factors that have prevented you from getting a win in the first round of the playoffs?

Well....... we HAVE won in the first round of the playoffs.... AND the second round (multiple times) under Ash.... but don't let facts get in the way of a good story.

We have made the quarter finals 2 of the last 3 playoff appearances
My mistake! I was shooting from the hip. Quite admirable!

Always a good read over here. As I get more and more antsy for football season, I do find myself reading egriz now and again, but I don't post over here much anymore, just a little too ridiculous for my taste.

Mock Colter all you want as just a message board poster, but he has a degree in journalism and has worked for print newspapers, and has press credentials, and makes money writing still.

I honestly think the Bobcat Beat platform is the wave of the future. Why pay for a newspaper subscription, where you have to wait a day, or two to get information, and by the time print comes out you've already heard all about the breaking news via social media, and who ultimately doesn't work for himself?

A guy like Colter is his own boss, so he can write articles on what he wants, ask questions he wants, travel where he wants, cover he wants, etc. He works for his subscribers, not for a newspaper conglomerate. He also just doesn't blog from his computer and reguritate news. He calls new recruits for stories and their high school coaches, he verifies social media rumors, he reports from practice, he attends all media events. He has access to players and coaches for interviews and stories. He can focus all his time and energy on Bobcat sports.

You wouldn't know any of this of course because you don't subscribe, but I'm telling you it is worth every penny and I'll never pay for any other Bobcat news source again.

I have been envious of Colter's reporting for years now. He does a fantastic job of covering the cats. We are finally getting much better coverage now with Kyle and AJ, but this is the one area we lag behind them. Colter has the balls to express his opinion and I have always respected him for that and he understands the game of football better than any beat reporter that I have witnessed. I will say Colter is not infallible. He has made several public mistakes over the years, including dissing his employer - the Bozeman Chronilcle - online and getting fired, negatively commenting online about a high school prospect that later commited suicide, and he spent a great deal of time posting here while simultaneously pimping his brother that played safety for the Griz and badmouthing A player in the Griz secondary.

I can see why Colter made his guess the way he did this year, but I will just disagree. The Griz have a very difficult schedule and a new coach, offense and qb. Lots to be worried about but I also think the team has a lot to be excited about. Deep down Colter is a Griz fan, but he must also pander to his audience. The cats potentially have a lot to be excited about as well with their offense. I don't think we need to attack him because of his opinion, though.

Well gee, what's not to like? :o

He calls new recruits for stories and their high school coaches

Does he call GRIZ recruits and pressure them to attend msu, or does that responsibility still lie with Tom Stuber....

So what I'm getting from these posts is you guys are bashing the intellect of a UM educated journalist and you would take Gus over JJ......and that is what was said. I saw a couple posts that said they would take this year's qb over last year. I quote, " I'll take...new qb over last years(sic)" as stated by AKgriz.

He wasn't saying Gus is a better QB than JJ, he's saying that he'll be playing in a much better offensive system than him.

Since Colter has a UM education, maybe he can help you out with your reading comprehension issues. :thumb:

This is how the cats looked in the last (one-sided) "Brawl", when the Griz shock and awe show commenced.

Makes for a lively discussion. Nice job Couter. You had the balls to write it, and my hope is that everyone re-ups @ boobcat county. We'll see.

Not intellect, just bona fides over any other message board poster. Which is what he is. Cool blog, bro.

Subtle and perfect.

I don't think anyone was mocking him. He is, after all, a blogger/message board poster. Nothing wrong with that. Lord knows there is the same amount of objective credibility to my predictions as his. And I didn't even factor in ski hill proximity.

No, not mocking him at all:

Seriously. Why didn't we get to go to Park City? We're just as qualified as Colton Nooners.

This piece is obviously designed to get reactions on eGriz. That's the only point of it. Think: nobody reads Bobcatville, and the dude doesn't write for any real media outlet. For what reason would a freelance blogger write something like this? So he can check eGriz (like all bobcat fans) and act like he still has an audience.

Colter needs to get back on his meds, clearly is not all there...that is all.

And of course the fact that you said "If Colter is a reporter, we are all reporters".

So, what is your prediction for both the Cats and griz
