Chalich to be a Griz

This guy is nothing to get excited about. Comparing him to Miller and Ochs is like comparing Barry Obama to Teddy Roosevelt.

Or comparing monte to anyone with an IQ over 80.

This is a bad idea. The Griz are loaded with quarterback talent, including one who has spent three years in the program for the chance to compete for the starting job. What does it say to future recruits when we promise them the opportunity to compete and then at the last minute (figuratively) bring in some ringer who will now be the presumptive starter?

It says that you have to earn your spot, same as anywhere. Chalich and the rest of the QBs will compete for the job in the spring and into the summer, it's not a big deal.

Are the Griz loaded at QB? Is the one that has spent three years in the program going to be in the program next year? And who says that everyone doesn't get an opportunity to compete?

Just rewatched Simis highlight reel from his senior year. I didn't realize how big the kid is, thought he was a littler guy. He looks really accurate, hope we have a good QB competition this spring between 2 or 3 guys.

All of the QB's have a chance to compete. I doubt the new coach will have guaranteed any player anything. All will have the same opportunity (unless a current assistant is promoted.)

in other words, let's wait a while.
Argh, my point was that it brings an experienced QB into the mix. I'm not for him one way or the other.
Dis was actually a good qb.

Still wondering how a player transfers to a team without a head coach?... Makes me nervous.

probably the same way they can recruit kids from high school without a head coach....

So he is walking on? Who would be recruiting him?

my understanding is he contacted the current staff, and it is very likely that he will receive a scholarship..He will be enrolled and attending UM in January.

That seems very presumptuous, assuming the next head coach likes your game. Hate to be the conspiracy jackass, but how do you offer a scholarship if there isn't a coaching staff to offer one?

The same way you can offer any scholarship. You do realize that the current staff will make the decisions until a new coach is announced, they can not just sit around and wait.

Hey girls figure it out! We will have a new coach BEFORE recruits can sign! That is a sure deal. So quit the worry game and get in the game.
In fact we will have a new guy before the end of the year.
And if we are lucky he may add a few guys he knows about......In any event it is a no brainer!

I do, but with the amount of scholarship QB's on the roster, even with Gus's moving on" I think it's messing with the next staff's ability to shape the roster as they see fit. "To me" an uneducated bystander, you keep those spots for inpact players - perhaps QB's - but that's for the next staff to decide. Unless they are getting an incredible player, they need to back off. Hopefully Haslam will make a quick decision and the new coach can make all these decisions.

Hay sweety, apparently not - as a player has said they he is transferring to UM, pre new coach...
