Not to be unfair to any player but a QB who wins is always held in more esteem than one who has great statistics. For example over time Joe Montana and Tom Brady, with 4 SB wins each, will always poll out ahead of Payton Manning, Dan Marino and John Elway. This should date me but any one remember Bart Starr, Earl Morrall, Bob Griese? Not the greatest stats but winners. It's that whole leading the team, come from behind thing as well. I don't mean to imply this type of comparison between our two quarterbacks. But yards per game passing don't mean squat if you don't win.
Another small point. It isn't totally about being able to gain a lot of yards running from a "mobile" quarterback. Look at Tom Brady, Payton Manning and many others. It is "pocket sense" and being able to move incrementally to avoid a rush and bye time for receivers to come open. I think an honest assessment is that this quality isn't present right now. Don't mean to be a bad fan.
