There is little doubt in my mind that Gregorak KNEW from day One he was on a 1 year bubble and was retained NOT because of his coaching but because of his ability to recruit and provide some continuity to the program. Don't forget for a minute that Stitt brought his DC with him. As one watched the D change this year, one would have to be a fool not to figure out what was going on..... I'm sorry but I have all the respect in the world for Gregorak for giving his all till the last minute of the last Day. Going to the cats? Hey the mans first loyalty is his family... Why not, and whether or not anyone likes it a coaches loyalty to a program is directly proportional to who is PAYING him. He is selling his services and talent.

Agreed with all of this. I have ZERO problem with Gregorak going to the 'scats. His wife was able to find employment there as well, and that's a HUGE deal in my book. He was good for this team while he was here, and I expect Semore to be even better.

Movin' on....
too much common sense for one thread over here...

It's time for old Umista to jump into this debacle of a Gregorak thread with some worn out comments that have been previously stated over and over. So, I will state some junk stuff on the same topic.

Knowing Gregorak was not happy from day one regarding coach Stitt's hire I observed the dislike first hand after visiting with Ty early last summer. From my experience of hiring many people in my companies I thought at the time trouble would be coming between Stitt and Gregorak. I like Ty and I stuck up for him during his time as a Griz coach and I thought he did a good job. Ty is NOT a deep thinker and is more of a "raw raw" coach. His "scull and x-bones black flag" and the "dark side" along with his black tee shirt etc. were big parts of his coaching and it related very well with the young men he was leading. The kids he coached liked him. He probably was a bit imature and got the kids to play hard but that was a good thing. He REALLY liked the LB position and felt that position was the key to the entire defense. Like I mentioned he was not a good technician concerning the over all defense but good enough and I liked him for his ability to get the kids to play hard.

Kndice Gregorak was very unhappy she was not selected to be the Griz vollyball coach and not even in the final selection group. Her dislike of Haslam was obvious and might have been another nudge that pushed Ty to move to Catville.

Coach Delaney was a part of Gregorak's decission to make the move. Mick knew of the problem Ty was having with coach Stitt and assisted with this move. Enough said. I have zero problem with this and in the end it is a good thing for everyone.

Coach Stitt is a team coach. He does not want to be each players friend, instead their coach. Delaney like Gregorak liked the friend buddy buddy approach. Right or wrong each coach in the world has different approaches. Coach Stitt will name (he already knows) his Defensive coach soon.

My take on all of this? We are just fine and I tend to think a couple more years will prove out that fact. Stitt is a smart man. Can he coach? We will know after 2 more years. I have talked with Stitt and my guess is he can be a very good Griz coach. In the meantime Gregorak is happy and msu is giddy with glee. My wife who knows both men thinks it's a win-win for everyone.

In a different thread - Kandice does NOT have a job in Bozeman. She is a stay-at-home mother of two young children for the time being. . .

Speculative audio about Ty Gregorak and also some perspective about Dakota Prukop at the end. Audio is from the latest installment of Tootell and Tucker, ESPN radio show out of missoula. Second from the top.

Link alone tells me it's speculative...Colon not a friend of the Griz.

Wow, bitter much? :coffee:

What did Colter ever do to you?

Ummm....where have you been? Bungled recent tweets that brought Stitt's ire. Bottom line is he needs the Griz much more than they need him. His product is incomplete without the Griz. Guarantee his access to the program is limited right now. Fortunately, we have a stable of superb, young sports journalists covering the Griz right now. You guys can pay colon.

It's funny to me how not one person believes Ty when he says he got along with Stitt and Stitt wasn't the reason he went to MSU. MSU fans are always on here talking about class and integrity, but they don't mind calling their own new DC a liar lol.

Ty Gregorak said the right things as one would expect him to do. He was helped along by Mick Delaney about NOT burning bridges etc. I am glad he said he got along with coach Stitt as that was a very good thing to say as he was walking out the door.

It is obvious Ty did not care for Stitt's style of coaching. Further, Gregorak felt he should have been the head coach and had Mick Delaney's support and of course a few others. Haslam felt he was not close to being ready for the head job and I had to agree. In the end it made things tough for him as he watched an up and down offense all season he did not believe in.

If Stitt leaves anytime soon I can assure you that Ty will not become the head coach. I do think he can mature and become a head coach in the Big Sky but time will tell. I wish Ty luck in the future and hope he does well.

But a Cat? It is funny to watch the cats slobber all over themselves again and I see tons of cat trolls riding the new wave of high hopes and future glory!

What's the basis of your saying that TG didn't care for Stitt's coaching style?

I thought TG was a finalist for the head coach job? Are you saying Haslam selected a finalized that he thought was not close to being ready for a head coach job?

How can you assure us that TG won't be the head coach if Stitt were to leave soon?

Note that if Stitt were not to do well, Haslam might not be around for long. I think alot of people would get on Haslam if Stitt were to fail--not suggesting he will.

Look forward to hearing the basis for your comments, or whether they are just your opinion.

Now, all he has to do is deliver the same speech and change the name from Cats to griz, and he's set. In coach world, you always love your currently lover...until the breakup and then is on to the next one. He's now in love with the Cats! I'll bet you don't see him sporting anymore griz gear because now he's blue and gold baby!
I'll try to give you a completely neutral and honest view on Ty.

First year....expect more of the same of last year. I think defense is 60% having the right guys and 40% scheme. We've just had better players than you on that side of the ball. However, Ty is an upgrade from Loane. He knows the BSC well, and is likely the best LB coach in the FCS. I don't care if Loane's title is LB coach.....he won't be coaching LB's if Ty is on that staff, and that's a good thing for you.

After next year, I'm guessing you will love Ty for 90% of the year. He has a white-knuckled defense (bend but don't break), but he does it well, especially in the red zone. However, he hasn't figured out run defense against GOOD running teams. Best case, Choate is the architect of the defense, and Gregorak just the operator...then Loane just fills in wherever, because Ty should be the LB coach.

I'm glad he moved on honestly, for one reason. There has been a lot of bitching about our defense with Ty. I've liked Ty, generally, but I think it is time to see if the grass is greener on the other side. Whether that be Semore, or whoever Stitt brings in.
