One comment only about TG leaving.

I have no doubt that he was committed to the program and was a players coach, but I look at the talent we had the last 2 years and wonder if the end result was as good as the parts...I mean really we have had a lot of talent on that side of the ball.

Maybe I expect too much...

Caleb Kidder has always been a favorite since he got here....he has now elevated himself even more.

The sad thing is, we have to wait 8 fucking months for my scat friends to realize that this isn't the end of the world for the Griz, and the scats didn't get a shitload better.

Griz will have lumps on defense, but they'd be there if Ditka was coaching them next year, first few games are going to be rough breaking in all the new starters.

One thing for sure, I can't wait to be in that stadium when Ty gets rolled for 50 points...

I know nothing of the specifics of the situation but if any of the comments on here are accurate then it is reasonable to assume some of the following may have prompted this change;

A) As a new coach Stitt was obligated to retain Ty for some continuity. He may want his own guy.
B) If there was tension (likely) then each may have been wanting a change anyway.
C) Ty's wife just got a job in Bozeman. This could explain his jumping over to little brother.
D) Coach Choate needs huge instant help. Finding a decent D coach with Big Sky experience is huge.
E) Despite the talk, Choate doesn't have MT connections (beyond playing at Western). Ty does.
F) Cat's defense was worst in the nation. IF TY DOES ANYTHING HE WILL LOOK GOLDEN.
G) Ty probably got a pay raise and a great resume builder showing he can turn a defense around.

Gregorak did a good job in Missoula and always had a decent defense. On the other hand he also had some exceptional talent. With this he consistently fielded a good defense but not a great one. I hope he does well in Bozeman. I expect he will make their D respectable again. This will help him if he wants to climb the coaching ladder.

Ty is a good coach and I'm sorry to see him go, especially to Bozeman. Yet as I began this post, "Whatever".
I think what I'll miss most is the guy's passion on the sidelines. I'm confident we will find another defensive coordinator who can take the talent on the Grizzlies sideline and field a solid defense.

1982 hits on a great point. Ty has a new(er) wife, who played for the Cats. (Did I see someone say she just took a job there?) Ty has already gone through a divorce. This may have a lot to do with it. Happy Wife = Happier Life???

Not sure if it was the cause, as I have heard the rumors of friction too (caused by both sides). But it was probably a factor, especially if she just got a job there.

75....in the discussion about Montana cutting players based on 1 year scholarships.....and someone stating that many schools do it....why would you then point to Power 5 schools to rebut his argument.....and just so you know....the big schools have ways to get around the 4 year athletic scholarship....and it does still happen at these schools...
