The M on the helmet is a negative, in my view, as it's confusing. It should correctly read MSU.

A number of years ago 10-15(?) we saw team names prominently displayed on pants, but if I remember correctly, they disappeared after just a couple seasons. Playing on natural grass fields it didn't take long before the team/school names appearance was less than desirable and sometimes pretty comical. With the large scale migration to turf, this form of branding (as you call it), could make a resurgence.
